I'm making a CD of soft music (Sinatra, Martin, Houston, etc.) that will play.
People are honestly there to eat, and won't even pay attention to the music.

We won't because you can hardly hear it over the din of the people talking and eating. If we can play recorded music over some kind of sound system, we'll do that, otherwise we won't have anything.
We recently went to a wedding that had a flautist (flute player) during the cocktail hour and you could not hear him at all unless you were standing right in front of him.

My DJ did this and it was FINE. People were too busy eating and mingling to notice anything.

We are making a CD. You should ask your place if they have speakers in there and are equipped to just easily play a CD. that way you can make one and hear whatever music you want!

I went to a wedding this past weekend and they had no music or anything playing in the backround and to tell you the truth I did not even realize it until after CH was over.

Me too - and my DJ talked me OUT OF having him at the CH - he said it's a waste of my money, since people are more focused on talking and eating.

Re: is anyone not having
We got an hour-long CD of harp music and asked the DJ to just play that at the CH. We liked the idea of the harp music, just didn't want to spend the extra $$
