Just wondering if I am the only one not interested in preserving my wedding dress after the wedding. I would like to keep a portion of the dress for posterity only. To keep a dress for at least 25 years until I have kids (and I would have to a girl). I also do not own a house as of yet and to keep it in the apartment is gong to take up room. Also, being that I only spent $250 on the dress it might cost that much to clean and preserve.

I thought of this too. My dress was $300. It would cost $200 to have it preserved and boxed. I mean, my dress is classic, but, I'm not guaranteed to have a girl and who's to say that she's going to WANT to wear my wedding gown.

Re: Is anyone not keeping their wedding dress?
honestly, the dress is soooooo expensive, it might be tempting to sell it afterward...I mean, I really had no desire to wear my mother's wedding dress so why in the world would my daughter want to wear mine? Styles change, tastes vary and they take up a lot of space. I do like the idea of having Christening dresses made from it though. I've heard of that being done before and it sounds very sweet.

Re: Is anyone not keeping their wedding dress?
im torn on this one....my sister and i tried on my moms wedding dress a few times but when i tried it on when i was engaged it was an overwhelming feeling and im sure my sis will feel the same way when she is getting married....its crazy to put something on like that and know that its the dress my mom wore when she married my dad....so if we had a daughter id love for her to have the same feeling one day - and its fun and silly....i actually have some pics of my sis and i wearing my moms dress in my album otherwise i would want to sell it because the chances of it being worn again in the future (for a wedding not to fool around in ) are slim to none

I have a hoarding issue so I can't see myself break away from my wedding dress!

I want to eventually turn my dress into the lining for a baby basinnet for my children so I'll be keeping it.

Re: Is anyone not keeping their wedding dress?
my mom kept hers thinkin i was gonna wear it and theres no chance in hell LOL so if i have a daughter, i'll assume she'll hate mine too.... theres really no reason to keep it... if u sell it right away, at least you'll get some good $$ back!

I'm doing 'Trash the Dress' pictures after the wedding, so I guess I'll be throwing it out afterwards.

I spent so much on it I might as well save it. if I have a daughter she prob wont want to wear it but I would still like to have the option to show her when she wants to see it. I remember looking at my moms when I was a little girl and i was amazed by it!

I dont think I would be able to sell it, I know how much the dress will mean to me. I keep everything though. I love the idea of making something else out of it for my babies ones day.

The pictures or the dress?
The pictures are just gonna be part of my wedding day package (we have a morning wedding, so we're just gonna do this after everything).
I will say that knowing that I'm doing this helps keep me from picking the really expensive and fancy dresses when I go shopping
