Is anyone not keeping their wedding dress?

Original post by Just Cindy

Just wondering if I am the only one not interested in preserving my wedding dress after the wedding. I would like to keep a portion of the dress for posterity only. To keep a dress for at least 25 years until I have kids (and I would have to a girl). I also do not own a house as of yet and to keep it in the apartment is gong to take up room. Also, being that I only spent $250 on the dress it might cost that much to clean and preserve.

I'm doing 'Trash the Dress' pictures after the wedding, so I guess I'll be throwing it out afterwards.

omg... are you really gonna do this?!?! i could never... i hope its not expensive!!!!

The pictures or the dress?

The pictures are just gonna be part of my wedding day package (we have a morning wedding, so we're just gonna do this after everything).

I will say that knowing that I'm doing this helps keep me from picking the really expensive and fancy dresses when I go shopping

yeah i meant the dress! sorry! lol thats def a good way to keep yourself from going overboard on the pricey gowns!

I'm gonna keep mine. You never know if someone could wear and if not, then maybe when I'm down and blue and can put it on and feel happy!!! WOuldn't it be nice if you could wear it out. My friend jokes that after she gets married she's going to wear her dress everywhere, even food shopping, since she just loves how it makes her feel.

Go to this link:http://www.liweddings.com/chat/topic.aspx?ID=472731&Highlight=trash+the+dress

It has a trash the dress photo shoot in it.

FH and me both love the beach, so we're going to take pictures just rolling around on the beach and playing in the water.

I have a hoarding issue so I can't see myself break away from my wedding dress!

Ditto! I love my dress too much to sell it. I'll just break it out on anniversaries

I will definitely keep mine and maybe one day my daughter would wear it....

Before the wedding, I figured I'd probably sell it. But now I feel all sentimental about it, every time I look at it I remember the wedding day, so I think I'll probably keep it hanging in my closet forever lol.

i plan on having it cleaned but NOT preserved, and maybe have either a baby blanket, or if i have a girl her communion dress out of the material.....preserving it seems silly to me, but thats JMO

a friend of mine puts hers on every year on her anniversary and she and her DH watch their wedding video together! i think its so cute =)
