Is anyone NOT putting china on their registry

I went to macy's last night and looked at what they had to offer and absolutely nothing appealed to me. I'm registered at BBnB as well so I'll look there next week. but what if I don't see something I like. I don't wanna just get it just to get it.

Is or did anyone have this problem and what did you do?

TIA

I wasnt going to, but then I decided to, I Found china that I loved at Fortunoff

I decided to get it because when I do have a fancy Holiday dinner I would be sorry not to have it

We didn't. I know this will sound stupid, but we're not china people. I even roll my eyes at myself when I say that!

Plus, if we get the urge to use China I have my Mother's.

We did register for really great plates that are our 'formal' plates.

me, ieveryone i know never uses it..so what we did was we went to crate and barrel and got the everyday stuff and then a really nice set for holidays but not as expensive as china at fortunoff...if i chose the one at fortunoff that i watned it would total out to around 6 or 7 thousand and i couln't do that...for plates....

I'm not! I found a set of fine china I love, but decided instead to do two sets of casual and a set of Christmas china.

I think having two sets of casual china will be great - since I can use both all the time!

US!!! we don't need it, i'd rather have casual dinerware that i can replace if a piece gets broken

I'm not. It would be a complete waste for me. I'm not a china person and everyone I know that has it doesn't use it. I rather register for stuff I know I'll use - and actually like.

I didnt and I am so happy! My Mom bought us this amazing Mikasa 12 person set at macys that was $600 for $300 on sale. Plus we got the serving set us well. It is stunning and everyone thinks we spent thousands on it. I just cannot justify spending more than that. Everyone I know that has fancy china has it in their parents basement or still have an incomplete set, what a waste!

I didn't register for formal china. DH and I actually had no intention of doing so since we would like to buy a house first, etc.

We were at the Riverhead outlets several months ago and the Noritake store was closing. We got an unbelievable deal on fine china that we couldn’t walk away from. So we bought it all ourselves. We saved over 80%!

ETA: We did register for Villeroy & Boch everyday china and got it all. LOVE IT!

I didn't register for China. I really don't think I will ever use it.

thank you ladies. you all are a big help. so if i don't see something i really love i won't worry about it and if my mother gives me a hard time then oh well. she wants me to have china more than i do anyway. i'll look into casual plates that are nice enough to use for a holiday.......if we ever do have one LOL

For what it's worth, we didn't register for china either, for all the same reasons. We would have never used it!!

we registered for casual china from lennox. and i already have everyday plates.

i just didnt like any of the patterns of the formal china. so i picked something i loved instead that i wouldnt be afraid to take out for dinner.

Re: Is anyone NOT putting china on their registry

I'm only registering for Christmas china. My mom just bought me my causal china, The Friendly Village by Johnson Brothers, for my birthday And she gave me 2 complete sets of china last year. One is from her first marriage, it's Wedgwood and I love it. The other is 150 year old china that I love too. SO, needless to say, I use and love all my china and don't really need anymore.
But, I found too, that I didn't really like any of the new, formal china. I wouldn't register for something that you don't love...wait and if later you see something by it for yourself then

I didn't want to own $109+ place settings and almost nixxed the whole idea about china all together, until I found a SET...which includes an place setting (4 pieces) for 8 persons for $199 - can't beat that right?

Nay here...we will live in our small apartment until we're ready to buy a house and in the meantime we'll probably have a baby...so we'll need all the space in the world...my mom promised me my fine china as my first housewarming gift.
