Not me, I would have nothing to do with it (no room to store it, plus I would never use it)

Theoretically FH's mom is giving us some? (I think it was his Grandmothers?)

Hope not...I have no intentions of buying any! Just nice dinnerware

We didn't... we did get everyday dishes and then a set of Pfaltzgraff that we are going to put away for company. Personally, I don't want people spending hundred of dollars on dishes that I would probably drop and break cuz I'm a clutz! :)

I registered for 'casual china'- it is beautiful, but since we live in an apartment in NYC with no room to fine dine, I figured that what we got was perfect for us. It is usable everday, dishwasher safe and very pretty (I think). Here is a pic:

I have lived with Nick for 4 years now in our 1 bedroom apt. and never needed it, I cant say that I will for a long time. We use the red plastic cups from Costco now... it really is fine stemware! LOL

OMG. I laughed outloud reading this. I have a big red cup sitting next to me. I have drank out of plastic cups for so long, I dont even like real glasses.

And Im not registering for china b.c my mom gave me hers.

My best friend and his wife registered for it, then decided they didn't want it and returned it all. I was kind of pissed because I was one of the people who bought them some. So think really hard before making your decision. Not only do you have to deal with it, so do your guests.

I'm registering for casual china - i'm registering for two sets - one set will be for 12 place settings - the set is white with berries -

The second set we are having 8 place settings - and will be a floral design.

I already have my grandmother's Lenox that my mom gave to me so I don't need China nor do I want it.

That china's has been packed in cabinets since I got it. If I ever need it then I have it but I can't imagine when I will want to use it...wash by hand, I don't think so

I am. My sister, Mother and I are big into table settings.
My sister didn't get China when she got married and now, 20 years later, she wishes she did. She told me, 'get it now, because you waon't be able to afford to buy it for yourself when you have kids.' My Mom encouraged me because she said everytime she puts it out, it reminds her of her wedding and each person that gave it to her.

I am not Registering for the rine china. I have got my own china and brought it so no one would have to buy it for me.

It's just not a practical use of money. The casual china I selected is beautiful and since we live together, we have the everyday dishes. Don't really need fine china.

We're not. His family has 18 people, so if we had a family dinner, there's no way we'd have 24 place settings of fine china!! Plus that's really not our thing, we're more casual and would rather register for something we'd use all the time than something that will sit in a cabinet looking pretty. Plus I'd have a heart attack if I dropped something and broke it!!

thats why i registered for inexpensive china. If i break a piece its only $50 a place setting.

we were going to only register for casual china, but my mom said she'd buy that for us as our wedding gift... so it's not like we'll be losing out on our casual dishes.

KL, I think it's not odd at all to not register for formal china. If you have';t picked out your casual yet, though, there are a lot of patterns that can be dressed up or down. You can get a nice charger plate for formal dining, or just dress it up by using real glasses, etc. I dont think it's a prblem. if you don't need it, you don't need it.

We didn't register for it either. We really don't need it right now and don't have space for it.

Everyone said we should because we would want it later on and proably after buying a house wouldn't be able to afford it.
