Wether you are hypehnating, simply adding his to yours or not taking it at a ll....

How are you having your MC announce you at the reception?

i have been stressing about this myself - everytime i bring it up fh looks at me with those puppy eyes and asks totally sad and serious what's wrong with my last name?
i just dont know what to do - i dont want to get lost as mrs john doe but amy doe doesnt exactly sound good either cause i know i will end up as mr & mrs john doe -
is there a good decision on this? if so i havent found it - it has actually kept me up nights trying to figure it out
i dont want to hyphen either cause then my last name would be huge
amy XXXXXXXX_ XXXXXXX
i hated writing my last name cause it was so long - this would be horrid -
sigh

We agreed that I could change my middle name to my maiden name and take his last name as long as i am not hyphenating. so it would be my first name, maiden initial, FH last name.

I am dropping my last name. For example: If I was marrying John Smith. I would be:

Stacy Smith....I DO NOT LIKE Mrs. John Smith!

I never agreed to drop my first name!!!!!!!
It really bothers me!

I don't think you can avoid that though.
At your reception of course, you can be announced how ever you want, but down the road, people will refer to you as R. 7 Mrs John SMith, as jannshari pointed out.
Ithinkits reare that when you are addressed singly you be called Mrs. John Smith. Mrs. STcay SMith is mor elikely.

However, My great aunt goes my Mrs. Joseph xxxxxxx
& MR. Joseph xxxxxx passed away about 40 years ago. I don't know if that's to honor his memory or if that's just the way it was done & sheis stickignwith tradition.

i will hypen on official stuff
at recep it will be
mr & mrs james & christine , His last name

I like that. Can I put theat on palce cards or is it awkward? Like for my parents? I don't want my mom to lose her first name.

I kept my name at work but I go by his socially. At the reception we were introduces as Mr. & Mrs. (his last name).

my well I'll be Mrs. (Fhs Last Name) however Im stealing an idea from someone on this site, since I do not have a middle name and I love my last name...my last name will be my middle name now.

I'm hyphenating...... he told me that's cool so long as it is his last name only on the birth certificate when the time comes!
