Is anyone on the boards deaf or have a relative that is?

My sister is deaf and I am always looking for deaf events for her to go or movies that are playing captioning (though that is usually at off hours so we can't go)

Can anyone help?

I saw a post by a deaf bride a while ago and its been on my mind for a long time to ask here.

I had a couple students in my Master's classes who were deaf and teach at the Cleary School for the Deaf in Nesconset. I'm pretty sure most of the teachers there are deaf, so they may offer community events for the deaf community. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Hope all is well.

The Lexington School (formerly located on Lexington Ave in Manhattan - now in Jackson Heights, Queens) is a deaf high school in New York City - I would contact them and see what mailing lists or email lists your sister can be a member of.

I also found this site online - had lots of cool things to do in the city. . . including a list of movie theatres that provide captions for films.
