Having a 1pm church with their cocktail hour not beginning until 6??? This is the situation my FI and I are in and we are not sure if this break is TOO much and we should look for a better day or if it is workable. I need some opinions because I just dont know!!

Kelly, it's entirely possible....all you need to do is provide things for your guests to do in the interim.....what is nearby and accessible and easy to find for them (a mall, restaurants, beach or park nearby) or invite them along to watch pics.....if you're doing outdoor pics in a public park...why can't they wander around the park and enjoy the beauty??

are your guests mostly local, or out-of-towners. If they are local, then they can go home. Otherwise, then definetly have some ideas for them. Maybe even someone will host something for at least family.

Just don't forget it will take time to get them to the reception/cocktail hour. So you can pretty much count an hour off the interium.
If the wedding STARTS at 1, you may be able to pull it off by 2pm or so.. spend time chatting with them after the church, head out for pictures.
Leaves only like 3 hours. Not enormously large. I'd still try to have a plan for that time. Though, personally I'd have no idea what they could do.
When I was a guest to this sorta lag time, I went home and changed. Just a thought.

Thanks for the reassurance. My parents live 3 minutes from the church so they said they would invite everyone over and just have cookies, wine, etc. The Hall is about 45 minutes away and we are planning a full mass, so I figure that by the time we leave the church and add in travel time it will be about 2.5 hours that our guests are left with.
