We are going to Tahiti the end of April and I am not sure what to do? We will not lose our money we will get a credit voucher good for a year (or some of our money back and a credit voucher depending on when we cancel).

Re: Is Anyone postponing HM b/c of War?
No way. We have worked to long and hard to postpone our HM. we are leaving Sunday morning for a cruise to the Western Caribbean. We are flying to Miami. I hate to fly even before 9/11 but at this point I can't wait to go and relax and spend quality time with my new hubby.
The only time I would consider postponing my HM is if our gov't warned us not to travel or I had planned to fly internationally Thenmaybe I would reconsider.
There are plenty of places to go on your honeymoon here in the US, Caribbean, Mexico, Bermuda.
I hope this helps. Good luck!!

i might be biased (we're going to tahiti also), but i think tahiti is probably one of the safest places to be. it's so remote, it's not worth anyone's trouble to bother with them. you should definitely go!!!

Re: Is Anyone postponing HM b/c of War?
We're planning to go to Italy in September for our honeymoon. I'm a little nervous because there have been a lot of anti-war demonstrations and I'm afraid that could translate into Anti-Americanism.
We have so much time that we are going to wait and see what happens. We already bought the plane tickets. Most of our hotel reservations are held be credit card and we can cancel those easily. There is one hotel that wants a check as a deposit and I haven't sent it yet, because I'm afraid if we have to cancel it may be hard to get the check back.
If I were you I would continue with your plans, unless the gov't indicates that it is unsafe to travel to that area.

We were planning on going to Cyprus for our HM, but with the war so close to Cyprus, we are second guessing what to do. We aren't getting married until September though, so a lot can change between now and then.

Before you decide if you are going to cancel I would read this. It is the governments travel warnings - Governmental warnings - tahiti page Based on that I wouldn't cancel at this time - unless you are concerned about your safety in getting yourself from here to there
Honestly, I've thought about it even before this war started... but I'm at the point that I cannot stress over it anymore... I'm nervous going to begin with, war or not, so if I don't go for my HM, I'll never go....
PS - of course, I'd have to see what happens as the date draws near...

Re: Is Anyone postponing HM b/c of War?
My FH and I took this into consideration while we were planning our HM. We just didn't know what condition the world would be in by June, so we decided we would honeymoon in the good USA! Then we chose a place that was within a reasonable driving distance from us. We're driving up the coast to Bar Harbor Maine. We're staying at a pretty hotel just outside of Acadia National Park. It's so pretty and the summer is the best time to be in Maine--all the wildflowers are blooming in the park. We might even take a ferry over to Nova Scotia. On the way home, we're stopping in Newport, RI and staying at a luxurious Bed and Breakfast and touring the mansions for the weekend.
My FH is in the NYPD, so he's generally cautious by nature. He's also a little more aware of the 'REAL' state of our safety--not just what we hear about on TV....so he thought it would be best to stay in this country. But don't let that scare you. Cops tend to be paranoid!!
We both love New England anyway, so it's not like we're compromising or settling.
If you think about it, thousands of planes take off around the world every single day. I think you'll be fine!

No Way!!! I honestly don't see any reason to. I just flew this weekend and had a great experience. There was soooo much security- I really felt safe.

FH and I are going on a cruise to Europe in May for our HM. I will not cancel it, I have spent too much time planning it and am looking so forward to it.

I agree with jenny in the last post. I work in lower manhattan too and take two trains. I can't wait to get away from the city for a while and not have to worry about NYC being attacked.
