I'm thinking about skipping the whole favor thing. I can't think of one I've ever kept. Or used. Opinions please? Will people be p!$$ed?

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
I didn't do 'favors' per se, I gave out bagels and cream cheese at the end of the night. Most of the weddings I have been to did not give out favors and nobody missed them.

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
Hmmmmm.......... Good question. I'd love to skip em because I still have NO idea what to give anyway. And your right, unless you give something that is really useful who keeps it! But would people consider it tacky? I think in the Jewish religion you don't give them.

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
I've been to weddings where favors weren't given and didn't care at all. I know there are people out there that look forward to the favor but I'm not one of them. Most times I leave them there anyway, cause I'm very tipsy by the end of the night!
We did a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in lieu of favors and received a lot of compliments on that.

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
i can definitely back up the suggestion of a donation. we felt the same way abut favors, so we donated to the lance armstong cancer fund instead.... we gave each guest a yellow ' livestrong' bracelet with a note explaining the donation.... they LOVED the idea!!! and a bunch of the guests are still wearing them almost a year later (which, BTW- your getting married on our 1 year!) so i can defnitely recommend doing that instead of a 'traditional' favor....

I didn't do favors..nobody missed them. I felt it was one expense I didn't need.

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
I'm deciding the same thing. I'm the only one who wants to do them and thats only b/c I feel people expect them, not because they come in handy! This sounds bad, but I've never used a favor I got at a wedding. If we do end up doing one my plan is to make it disposable such as wine, chocolate or a set of taper candles. Nothing that would collect dust is my plan but I still don't know...

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
My reception hall gives truffles as gifts to the guests at the end of the night, so we're just gonna have them wrapped with matching ribbon and use them as favors. I figure it is best to give a favor they can eat, plus it's free.

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
my family is huge on tradition, so when i tell them we're not giving out traditional favors, im sure they will flip... we're going to give out jordan almonds wrapped up in tulle (tradition)... and we're going to donate to a few different charities...i mean, think about how many random Mikasa dishes everyone has in their houses, or how many picture frames we all have that aren't quite our taste...
no matter how beautiful we think the favor is, it doesnt mean everyone will love them. i have an aunt who throws all those things out anyway- and some people that i know donate them to our church's flea market sale, or regift them- all that money for nothing! i really think donating to a charity is better.
hope that helps! :) and i hope i didnt offend anyone!

Re: Is anyone skipping favors?
I also considered not giving them because I cant find one favor in my house from a previous wedding...I dont think I kept any. So we are doing them now because my mother didnt think it was a good idea not to.
