We were going to have to do this in the beginning but we than found out we were getting help from his side also. I honestly dont know how you girls do it All our vendors want cash for final deposits and I almost fell over adding it all up.

We're not taking a loan, but I might pull out all of my hair the week before the day.

we took out a $5,000 loan. no interest for 3 months, low payments and no late fees. unfortunately something came up and we let FMIL borrow but shes giving it back in January.

thats the thing...we already have a home that we're paying for which is making the wedding more difficult to pay for in cash. we'll prob end up paying 1/2 to 3/4 in cash and take a loan for the rest.

We didn't. I'd never do that. I would have sooner scaled down or even cancelled the reception and been married at the courthouse instead. Debt--unless for education, mortgage, etc.--freaks me out.

If you think about it, it is really not a big deal. If you take out a loan a month before the wedding to pay off the vendors, you should be able to pay it back immediately after the wedding so the interest shouldn't be bad! Do you own your home?

No loan right now but from the start FH said we needed one. We are having a big wedding but cutting as many corners as possible. Who knows in the end we may have to for like the last 5k. I hope not. I have too many school loans and we need to buy a house with the money from the wedding.

we have enough debt btw FH's college loans and my medical ones w/o a wedding one.

my half is coming from an advance from work and FH's is coming from an inherited trust fund.

No way! If we can't afford it, we're not doing it. We just cut back on things here and there....

That's what FH and I are thinking of doing. If we come up short for the final payments, take out a loan and pay it back with what we get at the wedding.

Re: is anyone taking out a loan?

we think that we will be okay with paying for everything....our plan is to pay for everything in cash.....if for some reason we cant do it we will have no choice but to take out a loan b/c we dont have family that can help us out if we come up short BUT we are trying not to go crazy so we can keep the cost down and pay for it all in cash.....we dont have any debt, no credit card debt, no nothing (except for our loan for our land in Florida) and we plan on keeping it that way....so i every night

if you have to take out a loan - hopefully you will be able to pay it off with some of your wedding gifts after the wedding is over - not that you should be counting on the gifts BUT anything helps! so its not the worst thing that can happen - dont worry!
