i've been wondering the same thing. I already skip my pills as it is... so it would only make sense to take seasonale. The only down side that i heard is break-through bleeding.

My gyno recommended it, but I am afraid of break-through bleeding, so I am gonna wait till after the wedding just to be safe!

I have never been on the pill, but I don't want to get my period on my wedding or during my HM. So my gyno told me to take this for a few months.
Break-through bleeding!?

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
I tried it once last year when it first came out. I didn't like it because of some side effects (which I have since realized I get from all forms of the pill). I had breakthrough bleeding, but they say it gets better over time. Everyone reacts differently to the pills, but just be careful because all pills mess with your hormones (which we all know are powerful things )

Why would she suggest that you switch your pill? That makes no sense when you can just skip your period. All you do is skip the very last row of pills in the packet and continue on with the next months pills. I do this all the time. There's no break through bleeding or anything and its perfectly healthy (says my gyno).
I wouldn't suggest switching the type of pills you use just because of your wedding/honeymoon. Why mess with your hormones? Just skip the period scheduled for that time.

I was told it was very dangerous, plus a lot of spot bleeding.

Was it alot of bleeding?
I just wanted to take it for a month, because I am so damn irregular and I don't want to have my period during my wedding or HM.

I am not on the Pill.... I have never been. She just gave me a few months supply so I can take them, I guess starting in May and continue until after my HM. Do you think that's bad?

I don't know. That's a tough one. But since Seasonale is more prone to have break through bleeding occur, i wonder why she didn't just give you like 2 months of the pill to take because there's less of a chance for the bleeding to occur and you could just skip your period.
But i'm sure she knows what she's doing.

If you aren't on the pill now I would suggest you start now to see how your body reacts. There are a ton of other side effects besides the breakthrough bleeding to be concerned about. A lot of women gain weight, have mood changes etc... It affects everyone differently and I don't think it's something you should try out the month before your wedding (trust me when I first started I was an emotional wreck). I agree that you should go on regular pills and just take 2 packs in a row, less chance of breakthrough bleeding ( and in response to your question-no breakthrough bleeding is usually pretty light but can be different for everyone). Definatley discuss this more with your doc to see whats right for you.

I was on the pill for 7 years (different kinds) and I can honestly say it really messes with your hormones. I would rather have my period for my HM then be sick & crazy the entire time. But this is just me, most people do fine on the pill. If you want to go on the pill for you wedding make sure you know how you are going to react!!!!

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
Thanks Girls I really appreciate you helping me!!
I can't understand why she would give me this instead of the other pills. I guess I'll have to discuss this with her.
I really don't want to take anything, but I'm scared of taking the chance.
What us women have to go through!!

Could you imagine... I truly hope you don't have to wear depends on your wedding day. The look on your DH's face would be priceless.

See i guess i'm just really lucky because i've been on the pill for almost 10 years (wow i can't believe it's been that long) and i've never had a problem. I don't get headaches, i don't get cramps or break through bleeding. And i only get my period for 4 days... 6 days without the pill. But like everyone has already said... everyone reacts differently.

It's called Apri. But before that i was on 2 other kinds throughout the 10 years. I was on ortho and then i think it's called triphasil, followed by the Apri.

Lucky girl!! I wish... I thought I was doing fine until I started getting sick all the time and I passed out in the shower a few times. Now I am scared to go back on anything (well that and FH is like no way!!) Unfortunately I now have the added worry of being pregnant for the wedding--that would look cute Oh well, at least I feel better
