i am not on the pill..but i am veryyy worried i will get my period on my wedding and honeymoon.. i would like to do just a couple months of a pill... but my worry is headaches and omg maybe breakouts... ya never know when you change your hormonal balance...... xoxo
I was on the pill for 7 years (different kinds) and I can honestly say it really messes with your hormones. I would rather have my period for my HM then be sick & crazy the entire time. But this is just me, most people do fine on the pill. If you want to go on the pill for you wedding make sure you know how you are going to react!!!!
See i guess i'm just really lucky because i've been on the pill for almost 10 years (wow i can't believe it's been that long) and i've never had a problem. I don't get headaches, i don't get cramps or break through bleeding. And i only get my period for 4 days... 6 days without the pill. But like everyone has already said... everyone reacts differently.
Lucky girl!! I wish... I thought I was doing fine until I started getting sick all the time and I passed out in the shower a few times. Now I am scared to go back on anything (well that and FH is like no way!!) Unfortunately I now have the added worry of being pregnant for the wedding--that would look cute Oh well, at least I feel better
OMG..You passed out!!!
That's horrible!

Well you wouldn't be the first bride in our area who's been pregnant during their wedding! I couldn't imagine getting sick all the time. I can barely handle getting sick 2 times a year... much less every month.

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
I don't recommend seasonale. I took it last year after having a miscarriage and not being emotionally ready to handle another unplanned / failed pregnancy. ok TMI anyway I had serious breakthrough 'bleeding' if you want to call it that. I actually thought I had a major infection and had bad uterine pain. I took it for about 6 months (after going to the dr 2x for the pain) and then said the heck with it. Now being off it for 6 months I have the most absolute worst pms and periods I have ever had in my life! The day after I ovulate my you know whats blow up 1 size and I am a real pleasure to be around my period is also all wacked out now - and has been anywhere from 2 days to 8 days last time. I was never like this. all because the dr wanted me to try this. Great.....

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
Seasonale is not dangerous at all. Today women get a lot more menstrual cycles than we used to. This is due to the fact that we have less children, go through puberty at an earlier age etc. Our monthly cycles are very stressful on our bodies. So for many women Seasonale is a blessing. Also, if you have break through bleeding with regular pills you will most likely have it with Seasonale but if your body reacts well to other pills than it will most likely handle Seasonale well too. I also hear the breakthrough bleeding is very very light - like a few spots here and there. Personally, once Im married I will def. consider Seasonale. The reason I want to wait is because I still have 2 years and I need a monthly reminder that Im not 'knocked up' lol
Well, good luck. Everyone reacts differently to each pill so I guess you will just have to try it out.

I posted my last response before I read yours but like I said everyone reacts differently. Several of my friends have had no negative symptoms with Seasonale so it really is on a per case situation (like with everything.) Some people cant handle taking advil - we all have different reactions.
By the way, I am so sorry that you had to deal with all of those symptoms. Hopefully its all okay now.

thanks but unfourtnatly for me it just gets worse. I told my FH that we had better get prego right after we get married for fear my uterus will fall out! I'm only 31, this stinks!

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
i have been on it for over a year and a half- i love it - i only have break through bleeding if i forget to take it one day
i haven't had any side effects - but was on BC for a few years before - Sesaonal is pretty much the same as levlin a type of birth control that has been on the market for 20 years - the new package had FDA approval to be given for 12 weeks straight -
there is a cheaper way to use seasonal - seasonal is very expensive mattering on insurnace - you have to work with a doctor and mix ordering online and in the store to get enough to skip periods every month - the birth control that is prescribed is levlin which has a generic unlike seasonal

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
I have been on Seasonale for almost 2 years
I had one minor break thru incident- casued by taking my pill late during the first year
there is nothing dangerous about it- I love it- it's freedom
I can't imagine going back to getting my period once a month- that would s$%k
when you are on the pill you don't reallly get your period anyway- so what's the difference?
FM me if you want more info Beth

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
I've been on seasonale now for about a year. I love it - couldn't be happier. There was breakthrough bleeding through the first cycle (3 month) just like any other BCP - it takes time for your body to adjust, but once I started the second cycle - I was good to go. Couldn't be happier.

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
I took Seasonale for almost two years and I would get breakthrough bleeding a lot, plus I put on a lot of weight. I bled for a full month this summer, so I went back on Yasmin after that. Since then I lost 15 pounds and have a normal period. I also just had a cyst that ruptured last week, which I don't know if it was from the Seasonale or not...

I am really torn if I should even bother to take it.
I just wanted to take it for a few months just so I don't get my period for my wedding or HM.
Damn!!!!!!!!!! Why am I so irregular!!!
If I was normal, I wouldn't even have to bother with this at all!!!!

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
I also had a bad time with Seasonale. I have been on the pill for about ten years and always skipped sugar pills here and there to avoid 'my friend' when I had vacations, parties, etc. I went on Seasonale after my doc suggested it but I had a terrible time. I had spotting...almost daily for the first three months. Plus I often spotted at very embarrasing moments. Needless to say it totally spoiled my love life - the purpose of birth control. I didn't wait around to try the second cycle. Three months of bleeding on a pill that was supposed to make me only get my period every three months was too much for me. But to each his own...

I have never been on the pill, but I don't want to get my period on my wedding or during my HM. So my gyno told me to take this for a few months.
Break-through bleeding!?
Why would she suggest that you switch your pill? That makes no sense when you can just skip your period. All you do is skip the very last row of pills in the packet and continue on with the next months pills. I do this all the time. There's no break through bleeding or anything and its perfectly healthy (says my gyno).
I wouldn't suggest switching the type of pills you use just because of your wedding/honeymoon. Why mess with your hormones? Just skip the period scheduled for that time.
I asked my Dr. about this because I was scheduled to get my period on the day of the wedding. That would be horrible! He switched me to Jasmin for one reason. I was on Ortho-Tricycline low...he said that anything that has the word 'lo' in it means that you can't take skip your period by skipping the water pills and starting another pill pack. This is because the 'lo' means that there are 3 (tri) levels of medication in each week of the pill. If you take anything that dosent have the word 'lo' in it, then the dosage is the same and you can take the sugar pills straight through and you'll skip your period. Make sense?

Me too..been on the pill for almost 10 yrs now..started with ortho tri-cyclen, now on yasmin and love it! no cramps, no bloating, light period for no more than 3-4 days, and i always know when i'm going to get it...instead of seasonale i just continued with the yasmin to see how it would be to skip my period, and though i just spotted for 2 days, it was so minimal, only used a light pantiliner, and then nothing..will definitely skip my period for my honeymoon, since i'm expected to get it then...

Re: Is anyone taking Seasonale???
I was on the Depo-Provera shot for 5 years and loved every minute of it. I didn't get my period AT ALL. I recently went off because I noticed my hair thinning -- not sure if it was from the Depo or not (dermatologist said it was likely). But it could have been from medications I am on for diabetes and high cholesterol. I didn't want to risk it so I went on the pill.
Anyways, I'm now on Estrostep. It's been two months and so far so good. No weight gain, no breakthrough bleeding and very light periods. I'm due to get my period the day after the wedding, so I will just skip the placebo pills and continue on the next month's pills.
Like many other girls here said, everyone reacts differently to birth control. Some girls I've spoken to had extreme mood swings taking Depo Provera, meanwhile, it was a blessing to me. Start taking the Seasonale like your doctor suggested, it can't hurt to try, right?

Same here!! My pd is out of wack-sometimes I dont get it for close to 40 days!! I do NOT want to have it for wedding or honeymoon..so i might have to gain the courage and go to the doc and be put on BC for a couple of months JUST so i dont have to get it....

I have been on the everyday pill for the last three years. I was so nervous I was going to get my period on my wedding day, I counted ahead. If everything works out I will not have it on my wedding day or honeymoon..YEAAA. Knock on wood ladies
