is anyone using Charlie at fox hollow for a bm?? fight with fh!!

i ran into fox hollow today to get direction cards...and charlie happened to be there... david was busy...

long story short... i felt really um weird around him..like i was asking silly questions.

i was told the florist is only allowed to come 30 minutes before the reception to set up.

i asked..well my photographer is going to take pics of the reception hall when no one is in there to capture some pretty pics and i want to see it before the guests get there.
he told me that is very unorthodox and people dont do that.(looked at me like i had horns growing out of my head)

to which dh rolled his eyes..and we got into a big fight in the car that i ask dumb questions and if the bm says something..thats how it is!!

so i called the florist and he told me no..not to listen to bm that they will come an hour or whatever is needed before to do the reception so the photographers can take pics ( no one is using our room before us) and that brides often have photographers take reception pics before anyone is in there etc etc.

so fh andi have been fighting all day that i 'embarrass' him when i question vendors... andi told him he ***** and that charlie was wrong..

and well...... ughs!! i dont knwo if i am nuts or fh is nuts or charlie is nuts!! help!!!!!!

ps.. fh is reallllly a supportive awesome guy who all the time tells me how amazed he is that i am doing so well at planning the wedding !! so when he says what he says to me to day..it just kills me!

I booked my reception with Charlie. I found him to be a little weird as well. I haven't had any problems with him but my wedding is still a long ways away so I haven't had to ask him those type of questions. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Let the florist deal with it. My FH gets the same way with me but it's usually that I said something stupid in front of his friends or something and he gets mad at me. Whatever!!

I didn't use the Fox Hollow, but you're not trying to do anything weird at all - it's actually quite common.

I didn't get married at Fox Hollow, but like the above poster said, what you are asking for is quite common.
My photographer took pics of my hall when there were no guests present yet and the pics came out Beautiful!

OMG, I am doing TONS of decorating for my reception and ceremony and i want A LOT of pics before the guests arrive!! I'm not at your hall, but every wedding I look at in a magazine has the pics of the reception & ceremony decorated without the guests there! I totally think it's REALLY common!! You're not nuts AT ALL but I could see how a FH may think it was a little weird, but they don't always 'get' it

Omg we kinda had the same day today...I went to the Fox Hollow today too and met with Charlie because Arthur our BM is on vacation, to do our last deposit payment. My FH almost did the same thing to me about the new chairs in Winter Garden Pavillion. I wanted to see them and Charlie took us to look at the chairs and I took pics of them. My FH was like 'they are just chairs, why are you taking pics of them' in front of Charlie. FH was just being annoying of course...He doesn't understand why I would take pics of the chairs. I said because some of the girls on here want to see them and I want to show my mom..so anyway I feel your pain..lol..and I just read this post to him and he's like wow we just had the same day...lol

OMG... I totally thought you were askng this guy Charlie at Fox Hollow to fill in as a BRIDESMAID!!!!

The guy does seem rude. I'm sure you're paying GOOD money to have your wedding there... do what you want. Or ask to switch to someone else!

Both my daughters got married at Fox Hollow.

Look for FallBride2005 on these boards, she is my eldest girl and very detail oriented. She can give you some killer tips on dealing with the caterer at FHCC

My florist is the one that told me that sometimes the rooms can't get set up early IF there's another party going on which is not happening in your case but either way.....it shouldn't take that long for the photographer to snap a few shots of the room set up and with you and your FH in the room before its set up, even if they do have to get it ready an hour, half hour before, you should still be able to stop in when they're done and take your pics.

Hey Mom - You got it wrong... Both Felicia and I got married at the CREST HOLLOW which is next door!

Prunipe - and other girls as well.... NEVER EVER feel like you are asking stupid questions when it comes to your weddings!!! I got the standard, 'you are acting like a bridezilla' statement quite often when planning our wedding, but myself and DH DID NOT see it that way. WE (and I mean, us as brides/grooms, etc) pay ALOT of $$ to these vendors and my feeling is that, whatever we say and/or want , (within reason of course) is the way it should be. Vendors need to cater to us, not the other way around. We pay their paychecks! I'm sure if your photog and florist are at your hall early, they aren't going to shoo them out. Do what you want and how you want!

I didn't book with Fox Hollow, in large part because I was so turned off by Charlie. Arthur was very very nice though. It's too bad he was off when we went there.

I didn't get married at Fox Hollow, but I agree with the PP who said her florist said something about not being able to set up early b/c of an earlier party and I have a similar story.

When I booked with Giorgio's, they told me that I could have my ceremony a little earlier (5:30) if there was no afternoon wedding. So, I called when I was doing my invites (September for a February wedding) and the girl told me that I could only do my ceremony at 6:30 b/c they didn't know if there would be an earlier wedding yet. Which I totally understand b/c they could still book it.

So, when I was doing my final arrangements, I spoke to a new girl who said the other one had been fired and I could have gotten married at 5:30!! And since there was no wedding beforehand we could actually come whenever we wanted.

Moral of the story is: don't worry about it yet. Things change. What they say now could change when it gets closer to the actual date.
