I was thinking of doing an outdoor ceremony during the day. I have a designer friend who wants to create a canopy of fall foliage for me in a beautiful outdoor sertting. Two things I need advice on...
A) location of such... reception is at East Wind in the pm and I'm in Nassau so I would like to be between where I live and East Wind. And do you think it is too cold out in early Nov.
B) I wanted to do a butterfly release. Any one know anything about that and more importantly, does anyone have any experience with the butterflies.
Thank you all in advance.

not sure about the outdoor thing....I think it could probably go either way. I think the idea is so fabulous!
As for the butterfly release...If you call the co. they can goive you more details. It has to be within certain temps to do it.
Sounds like some great ideas. Good Luck & happy Planning!

Re: Is early November too late for...
My brother got married Nov 3 a couple of years ago and it was during the day. I guess it also depends on the time of day. This was in CT and it was nice, not cold at all.

I'll be completely honest with you. I went to a wedding in early November and It was freezing outside. Just to wait for the bride and groom to come outside we were really cold. I'd be careful with an outdoor wedding.
Can you use the canopy inside (sorry if that's a dumb question)

Hey anniversary twin! I think it may be a little too cold to do outdoors - 11/5/04 was a 75 degree day (I am praying for the same this year) but I think too much hinges on doing something outside

Unfortunately, no matter what time of year, the weather can always screw things up. As for where to have the ceremony, look into some local parks and see what you would have to do to have the ceremony there (fees, chair rentals, etc...) I don't know if Planting Fields will let you do ceremonies, but it would be beautiful if you could.

No way was it 75 degrees. It was freezing. Everyone wore winter coats and we couldn't take too many pics outside because it was so cold and very windy.

We got married on 11/6/04 and it was high 60s. We had the ceremony outside and it was breezy but fine--definitely not freezing. It could've gone either way though--November is so unpredictable! But look at how rainy June was--even many June brides couldn't have theirs outside, so it's all just unpredictable.
Here's a pic...

Re: Is early November too late for...
Hey, I'm the weekend before you, and I keep going back and forth with the same dilemma. I am always freezing, even in the summer I'm always sporting a sweater and long pants, so I'm very wary about having an outdoor ceremony.
The expected temperature range for my day is supposed to be between 55-60 degrees, so I think I might just be cautious and not do it.
54-60 is the temp range for your day and there is a 33% chance of rain, so I might not count on it if I were you.

Just to add, I only had to let my hall know 15 minutes before the ceremony whether I wanted it inside or outside. DH wanted inside, but I had always wanted to have ceremony pics outside, and I am SO glad I did!

I got married 11/8/97 and wanted to do the butterflies. I looked into it and everything said that they wouldn't guarantee them in November.

Re: Is early November too late for...
It's risky to do an outdoor ceremony, but it's certainly possible that the weather is ok. Halloween was gorgeous last year and there are usually points in November where the weather gets a little warmer again. Wherever you choose to have the ceremony, make sure you can also get an indoor accomodation (that you're happy with) in case it's too cold or rainy that day. Have a plan B in case the weather is bad.

I don't remember it being 75 degrees, but I remember it being comfortable. It definitely wasn't freezing.

November is very iffy. Sometimes it is freezing, and sometimes it is like the spring. I wouldn't chance it outdoors. Can he make the canope for the reception, to go over your table?

My mom actually bought me this cute jacket that I didn't even need because it was so warm! But at least I got pics of me in it inside!

Actually I remember it very well and it was very very cold on my day. Especially because of the wind. Her is a pic of my guests outside the church! Nice jacket huh

Re: Is early November too late for...
All you ladies are the best... thank you for all your responses. I am going to have a talk w/ FH this weekend and maybe consider having it inside. Does anyone have any suggestions for any place that is very rustic looking that we could do a quaint little ceremony. I would prefer something non-secular. My friend who is designing the canopy for me said that he could do a real harvesty look with pumpkins and vines and corn stalks inside an old rustic looking building. I will trust him, he is an outrageuos designer. Only thing is that I don't know of any old rustic looking buildings. Any suggestions? and to you all.

Re: Is early November too late for...
I don't know how if it might be too cold for the butterflys. . . but if you do decide to use them, it will be beautiful. I had a cousin and a friend both use them as part of their outdoor ceremonies and it was wonderful. The bride and groom, opened a box that was full of them, the parents of the bride and groom and other special family members each opened and envelope with one inside. You can get really pretty picture oppunities with them. Two landed on the flower girls hair at my friends wedding, it was perfect.
