IS EVERYONE REALLY THAT NICE....????

i feel sometimes not everything is perfect! but sometimes I feel honesty is the best policy or constructive criticism will pave the way! I think people tend to be generous with there comments about whats nice or not..... or maybe I'm just a Bi**h...sorry... To each their own

no need for apologies... I understand what you're saying...

I just don't see the need to p*ss on anyone's parade when I don't agree with them... Either I say nothing, or be as objective (and kind) as I can.. I don't expect the world to agree with me, therefore I try not to be judgmental towards others.

i CAN however, be a rip roaring c**t occasionally, but I try hard not to... [wink]

I totally hear ya!!! I feel the same way sometimes... I feel theres alot of niceness on here that you wouldnt see 'in the real world' If I dont care for something, I'll tell the person that directly! Sometimes, I feel like putting up some hideous dress and saying 'girls do you like this?? I think its gorgeoussssss' And I bet half will still say its nice and the other half will say 'if you like it, go for it!' type of thing

I usually just go by the old saying- if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all....if I truly disagree with what someone is saying, I may give a different opinion, but try to put it mildly- or if what another person says upsets me, I usually just don't say- yeah, honesty is the best policy, but weddings are supposed to be fun and enjoyable- why ruin it for someone else just because you disagree?

That's exactly what i meant! miss Mazz...etc... Sometimes I just don't know if I'm getting the truth or just a courtesty comment...

I don't mean to come off in a wrong way, I feel the same way to each their own when it comes to opinions on things...but i'm glad someone relates to how i feel at TIMES.

I totally agree.... everyones taste and style is so different.....

I think when someone posts their gown, decorations, or BM dresses, the people who write in and say 'pretty' are people who genuinely like the item. And of course there are people who say 'eh'.... but they are polite and don't post.

There's not one gown, centerpiece, inviation, or hall that even 50% of people will REALLY like. Individual tastes are so specific.... but there is always a group of people who have similar tastes to you..... and they will be thrilled with your idea or style.... and will give a ringing endorsement...

And that's good! it means you're on the right track if several other people say 'ooooh'. It's also nice to share your excitement with others.... and even better, you get to know the other brides online, and can eventually identify brides with similar tastes to you...... now that my wedding is over, I know 3 or 4 brides with very similar tastes to me, and I think that's really neat

I am not sure if I agree with this. I have seen some posts of hair and makeup trials that were just not good and the ladies on this board didn't blow smoke up the poster's a$$. They were truthful and kind. Nobody here is really angry/spiteful and it seems to me like all of the posters on this board are genuine in their wishes for everybody to have beautiful weddings. I think if a girl posted an ugly gown most responses would not be 'ewww-that is so ugly' not out of phoniness, but out of the understanding that all people are different and have very different tastes. I also think it would be clear if someone was posting an outdated or 'ugly' gown that they were most likely not serious. That being said, I do think that for the most part the women on here are really lovely, kind people and that is why this site is so popular and also why true friendships are born out of LIW. In an ugly wedding planning world, this site is really a gem. Even the 'drama' threads some girls speak of aren't all that bad. So yes, I do think that everyone is really that nice.

Im going to agree with Snickers on this one. Many of the women on here respond with their true feelings. When I respond that I like something or love something that someone else posted, I dont necessarily love it for MY wedding because maybe im going for a certain theme or style for my own wedding, but it doesnt mean I dont like it at all. I, along with many other ladies here, give my honest opinion. If I really dont care for something someone posted, I try to keep my opinion to myself by just not posting, or I post my opinion in an honest but constructive way. However, I highly doubt many women here would bother taking the time out of their posting to say that they loved or even liked something that they didnt. Most would just ignore the post altogether...Why bother?

Not to mention, i recall many a post in which another bride will say 'eh, its not really my style' or 'to be honest, i dont really like it, but thats JMO' -- thats being honest! I think if you spent more time looking at responses you'll see that there are many different opinions and many different suggestions people make. And I personally believe the majority of people are voicing their honest opinions. So, yes, if that means most people are just that nice, then I think they are.

I just don't respond to the threads I think show tacky or tasteless items or themes or whatever. It's easier that way. Not everyone shares my taste, and that's OK. Sometimes, though, I've been a bit harsh with brides when I thought they were being mean--to their bridal parties, FHs, etc, and they were looking for affirmation for their bridezilla moments from the other brides here. A lot of brides take the 'It's my special daaaaay!!' thing too far and think they can get away with nearly anything. Sometimes I want to slap some sense into them--metaphorically--but then I realize they're not going to listen anyway, so I move on.

Constructive criticism is one thing. Nastiness is another. Yes, there have been some drama threads on here, but it's not The Knot. Thankfully!

I'll be honest and say that I had this same thought when I started posting on LIW.
Then, after a while, I realized that everyone here is just supportive, not necessarily phony, and that creates a really positive atmosphere, which keeps everyone generally positive.
