Is flooring expensive?

I want to do flooring in the LR like ceramic or something cheaper if its not too expensive. Has anyone done this?

First it depends on the style & quality - there is a huge range in pricing for flooring now a days.

Are you going to install it yourself? The installation price of installing ceramic, wood, etc is what's going to make or break your decision.

You can find ceramic tile for anything between $0.99 sqft to $8.99 a square foot (average is $2-$3). Installation can cost anywhere between $3-$6 sqft so it will double your cost.
