I met a lady from st. james today, and she said the Flowerfield will be closing within the next two years because a golf corse is being built! Anyone know about this?

I never heard of that.. they just remodeled within the last year.. someone confirm please this.. I don't think it's true though.

I heard it from a couple who were married there last year. They said exactly what you said - that a gold course was being built. Such a shame...such a beautiful property.

Oh my god. I can't imagine they would close it. It is so beautiful there. My roommate from College got married there 2 years ago. It was amazing!

Has anyone found out if this is just a rumor or if it is really true? My fiance works out of one of the garage/shops there and he has been hearing that they are trying to kick out the businesses. I thought maybe they would start building residential communities on the grounds since the land is being eaten up every other place on Long Island.

Last year when I went to look, I asked the woman. She said that just part of the grounds were going to be used. They were not getting rid of Flowerfield. I am not sure if that changed or not.

Let us know when you hear back from Flowerfield - but I seriously doubt that they will be closing down.

It is NOT closing down! I got an email from Flowerfield today. The fairgrounds will be changed, but the catering facility and the grounds that Flowerfield currently owns will go untouched!!! I am happy to hear that!

I figured it would just be the fairgrounds. I couldnt imagine them closeing such a beautiful place!

Flowerfield IS NOT closing down. I know they wanted to build houses on the surrounding land but I think the owner may have bought some of the surrounding land to insure his property would remain secluded and in business :)
I'm getting married there next November - I'm sure if something like this was happening they'd tell future brides.
