We live there, we rent a house-not own, but we like it....My honest opinion? There really isn't much here though...we are looking to buy elsewhere. It's only perk is that it's near the Southern State! It is very family oriented though....HTH, JMO!

It has one of the top 3 elementary schools in Nassau County.

I absolutely love it here... I'm originally from upstate and moved down here almost 10 years ago. I'd love to stay here. Close to the city, wonderful neighbors...we really love it. We're hoping at some point to buy a home here.

The only downside would be a day like today when Italy wins the World Cup...there hasn't been a moment of peace since...

We live there (rent, not own). We like it, it's convenient to everything and our neighbors are nice.

I just moved from there (my parents still live there). It is a nice place to live...we have friendly neighbors there. DH used to complain though b/c he said it was never close to anything. I was not too far from Hempstead Tpke where alot of the restaurants are located. I also work in Franklin Sq near the library and 7-11 is very convenient!.

FS is a nice place to live. I used to live in WH and now reside in Oceanside. They have the best pizza and nail places Some of the houses there are huge! My psychic, Sandy lives over there and her house is gorgeous! Plus your near the SS and the CIE

My cousin used to live there and FH and might possibly look for an apartment in that area as well!

We lived there for a year, and I am a teacher in one of the schools there. It is a very family friendly neighborhood. Many people are expanding their houses, so that is usually an indicator of high financial stability. Depending on where you live you could be zoned for Franklin Square or Valley Stream schools. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask. I enjoyed living there!

This question is so funny!!!

I just signed on for a quick second and then I was going to start searching for houses in FRANKLIN SQUARE!!!

FH and I have been looking around... but we never really thought of FS... and we just drove thru it today and all the people were going CRAZY b/c Italian won... and he loved it... he was like they are all so outgoing here... and friendly...

I was like... OK... I will look it up when I go home...

A few of my relitives live in FS and love it.

It Depends on what you need, It used to be a tight Italian community, but recently it had gotton very crowded. It is right next to Elmont which I heard is not so nice. I know people that live in FS and they love it, but they grew up in Queens, so there are used to the congestion. I personally don't love it, b/c of how the houses tend to be very close together (That one exploded last month - I would prefere not to have the next house that close to mine, and they tend to be very small for the money.
Although the location is very close to all.

not to hijak, but . . . . there are parts of Elmont that are nice and parts that are not so nice. If you stay on the 'east end' you're fine. I grew up there, and my mom still lives in Elmont.

As for Franklin Square, it is a nice area, Garden City South is also Franklin Square school district. BTW, the elementary school district (Franklin Square) and high school district (Sewanhaka High School District - Carey High School) are seperate so you're technically paying 2 school taxes. Although my mom's taxes (for Elmont elementary and Sewanhaka High School District) are about the same as my dad's school taxes for Hicksville School District which is a K-12 district. Just FYI
