Re: is having NO favors tacky???
I was not going to give favors. Now my favors are the votive placecards. They cost .25 a glass at Michaels and the velum was just as cheap. All in all I made place cards and the psuedo-favor for less than $40. I don't think it is expected and not necessary.
posted pic -just FYI - if you think about giving something later there are some cheap alternatives. So rather than spend a couple hundred dollars this is another option, but in no way expected.
I've been to lots of weddings with no favors and don't think it's tacky....my mother and the older might. Good luck

Re: is having NO favors tacky???
i dont know if i would be comfortable not giving out favors... what if you do a small donation instead? no one needs to know how much of a donatino you are making... and you can print little cards yourself onto card stop for super cheap...

Re: is having NO favors tacky???
I've been to plenty of weddings where there were no favors and I never thought anything of it. I've wound up tossing most of them anyway unless they were edible. We are doing a donation in memory of FH's sister because she just passed away a few months ago.

Re: is having NO favors tacky???
I've never been to a wedding without favors, and I would feel funny not giving my guests a thank you for attending.
However, I don't think I would be upset if I didn't get a favor at a wedding. so I don't think many people will even think about it.

No, it is not tacky. FH says the open bar is the favor
I have been to tons of weddings without favors (typically Jewish weddings) and I have been to weddings with favors. Honestly, I only recall one favor (which I kept and used) and it was small organza bags of rose scented potpourri with a personalized tag (wedding date/names) and a tiny silk rose tie. I put them in my lingerie drawer and in my car.
The wedding was at Rosecliff Mansion so she had a rose theme

Re: is having NO favors tacky???
Years ago I attended a multi millionaire's daughters' wedding and there were no favors. The wedding was at Windows On the World and very swanky!
the furthest thing from anyone's mind were favors, or the word TACKY

I think you are fine not to do favors. I hate most favors so we are probably just going to have small chocolate favors. Cheap and yummy.

I don't think it's tacky, it's a nice gesture to have them it's not required.

I have never been to a wedding without a favor, unless a donation was made instead.
Me too

I like the idea of votive place cards. What type of glue did you use for the vellum on glass so that when the cadles are lit, the vellum would just fall off.

It's not tacky at all...........I went to a wedding last summer and a VERY classy place on the Jersey Shore......no favors! I don't mind it at all. I'm not really into favors anyway. I always wind up throwing them out or leaving them at the hall.

No biggie. Definitely don't worry about it. I don't think I'm going to do favors either.

I don't think too many people will notice. Maybe do a little thing of candy if you are really worried about it. Your guests are there for your wedding day, not for a favor!!
i was going to say the same

Re: is having NO favors tacky???
You can always do donation favors and inexpensively make nice cards for each place setting. Noone has to know if your donation was $2 per guest or $0.25!
I would not say it's tacky not to have favors and I would not think anything if I were a guest at a wedding with no favor but... I've been in the presence of many a snippety snip of a hag who'd make a comment!!!!!
It all comes down to.... do you care? If it does not matter to you and you can handle the reaction from anyone who says something (tell them you'll refund $2.50 of their gift!) then do without!
