Is he just tricking us ??

Is he just tricking us ??

JennRenee, I know your having baby-sleep problems, so dont hate me for this post

John Anthony went through a little period (a good month) where we got him used to falling asleep watching tv/reading books with daddy -I know terrible habit) So we decided to not only stop this altogether but also set a time for his bedtime, not just 'any time'... We had some TOUGH nights where he'd cry and cry because he wasnt used to being put in the crib awake.
(and as an infant we did it ALL THE TIME and he slept just fine...)

Well its been three nights now, where he's almost been ASKING to go to bed. We call bedtime 'Neena Nanna' (comes from an Italian lullaby)... and he knows when we say that, that we are taking him to sleep, and he usually protest, but the last few nights, around 9pm, he rubs his eyes, and just says 'neena nanna'... and daddy puts him in, and he's out for the night, until about 8am! VERY VERY new to us, and VERY unlike him!
He has also had crying/whining in his sleep... Anyone know what this is from? it lasts a couple of minutes, if even that long...

WE're VERY excited that he's getting in a pattern all on his own, but with the baby coming, we're not counting on it to last forever

I hope he's not pulling a quick one on us and will go back to his old ways...

Since they are about the same age I think its about right... no tricks

Emma has begun getting ready for bed at 8. She gets in her jammies right after dinner. When shes ready to go to bed she grabs the night-night book (Goodnight Moon) I read it then she grabs piglet and runs to her bed. She puts her head down and shes out until 7AM. Its NICE!!

BTW - the whining at night may be nightmares/dreams.

Karen, is she in a big girl bed already?
We're going to transition JA in June (mommy's not ready for this)
Im debating the toddler vs twin, and leaning towards the toddler only because hopefully the transition will be easier with the bed being a racecar bed

Anna, luckily I can still enjoy another mommy's bedtime success!

I'm so glad John Anthony has decided to adopt a bedtime routine!
I hope he keeps it up!

SO CUTE! My family sings that too!

It could be dreams, but I know in Paul's case, he sometimes crys for a minute or two just b/c his arm fell asleep or he's in an uncomfortable position or something...you never know when they are that little, but as long as it doesn't last too long, I guess they are fine!

Even if it is just a phase - take it while you can :) coming from a new mommy too- you won't have much sleep with 2 kids in the house so enjoy it!!! I hope this is the start of a sleeping pattern for JA

and I also say it is just dreams - Amanda used to do it and it freaked me out when I first heard it and Emily just did it the other night .
