Is it a bad idea to have just a solo violinist to play ceremony music?

Will this sound bad/get lost in the church? I really can't afford a trio but I really would like the sound of a violin. Also, I'm sure I can't afford it, but just out of curiosity, did anyone look into the cost of hiring a choir to perform at their ceremony?

Thanks!

A lot of times you can hire the childrens choir from the church...they just ask for a donation...three different people I spoke with they gave about a hundred dollars.

We are having a violinist play for the BP & parents procession, and a trio for my entrance & the recessional. My church is HUGE & the sound does carry, it doesn't sound lost.

What you should do is call the local colleges that have good music programs. We used to do that all of the time. People would call and we would get some people together and play for weddings, etc. They are all great musicians and usually work a little harder because they are trying to make a name for themselves.

Call the Brooklyn Academy of Music. They charge about $300 for a trio.

You can always put a microphone on a solo violin also - it would cost about $75 for the stuff you need if your violinist doesn't have it already.
