....to send the invites more then 6-8 weeks in advance? I mentioned to a coworker that my wedding is may and I will send the invites early march since I wont send save the dat cards and because the wedding falls on memorial day weekend and she told me that is so tacky and very bad etiquette

not at all! i think 6-8 weeks is fine and standard because of the wedding falling on a holiday weekend..i would think bad etiquette would be to send them to late

Hmm well if you're not sending save the date cards I would think it's a good idea to send them a little earlier.

Re: Is it bad etiquette????....
i sent mine out about 11 weeks before only because a lot of the guests are out of town and i wanted to give out a lot of notice with all the info
only because i did not do hotels or airfare discounts for the STD is why i sent out the invites early

Re: Is it bad etiquette????....
thanks ladies. I was thinking early march but I guess it will be alittle too eary so I would do something in between like 8 or 9 weeks before so is close to the standard 6-8 weeks but still early. I'm just trying to be safe. All wedding nightmares I've had had something to do with sending the invitations late or not sending them at all

Re: Is it bad etiquette????....
LOL that is the standard, what does your co-worker thing you should do the rsvp date is supposed to be about a month before your wedding so what does she expect, tell her that its the opposite, its rude not to give your guests time to rsvp. Youre supposed to tell your hall the final headcount and pay for these ppl about 2 weeks before the wedding...so thats why a month for rsvp date is perfect bc you'll most likely have some who dont rsvp and youre gonna have to make calls and stuff to get everybody.
also go online to any invitation etiquette site, just put that in a search and it will say 6-8 weeks, and you can show her

Re: Is it bad etiquette????....
I think thats fine, I rather have an invitation early so I know not to make plans on a holiday weekend. Your co-worker seems a little rude if you ask me.

Re: Is it bad etiquette????....
thats true. Actually i might send her my sample customed invitation that way she gets hers in 5 months to see what she is going to say. I will send it to her today and tell her to rsvp by sunday for my may wedding.

if you were planning to send them in early march- do it, send hers a week before the wedding!

she said that i should send it 6 weeks and rsvp 2 weeks before the wedding. I'm going to stick to my plans and send it mid march and rsvp a month before the wedding. thanks ladies!

Your co-worker is definitely OUT OF ORDER. Like the other girls mentioned, 6-8 weeks is standard however, in your case, since you are not sending STD cards and your wedding falls on a holiday weekend, I think it would be best if you even send your invites out a bit earlier.

Yes, 6-8 weeks is the regular time frame. BUT i want to send them even earlier for the reasons I mentioned about and my coworker said its tacky and bad etiquette to send before the standard 6-8 weeks.
