Is it bad luck.....

To get the wedding dress before someone gets engaged??

My friend got her wedding dress before she got engaged. She knew she was going to get engaged soon (and she did) but she got hers beforehand. Has anyone else done this?

wow your friend is too funny...lol I never heard of anyone doing it and never heard its bad luck...then again I am not superstitious.

I have never heard to anyone doing this before...too funny!! No clue if it is bad luck or anything...I do know that writing your first name with his last name before you are married is considered bad luck, so I dont see how this cant be considered back luck...

yeah I always have practiced writing my name with his last name, I dont think thats bad. Before we got engaged he would even tell me pronounce my name with his last name and not mine, he thought it sounded better

that is funny, but my fh and I went and looked at rh before we got engaged. We had a reason though, my Nana was in hospice with cancer and we wanted her to know about our wedding, so we went and booked our rh and two weeks later fh proposed.

lol. well i'm not supersticious - but i have a friend who went w/her best friend(NO not her man!) & booked her hall! came home & said 'well - we're getting married on this date, at this place..u have untill this date to propose, otherwise i'm out!' next to that ur friend ain't in such bad shape!

i am so far from superstitious - so NO not bad luck at all. Neither is that other thing about writing your married name before being married. And it's not bad luck to let somebody else try on your engagement ring either.

I'm actually one of those weird people who bought my dress before 'technically' being engaged. lol. We had talked about getting married before he actually got on his knee and proposed. And since I'm only in New York for a part of the time and then in Colorado the rest, things had to move kind of fast with planning our Christmas New York Wedding. And since certain things need to be taken care of well in advance, there was no time to waste. So I had actually bought my dress and booked the hall while in NY. A month later I was in Colorado, and he proposed that summer.

Though it's not the exact same thing, we were looking at catering halls before we were officially engaged. I don't think it's bad luck- just efficient planning LOL

I think bad luck has little to do with a relationship. You either make it work or you don't, has nothing to do with a dress.
I am actually wearing a dress that I bought for a previous engagement (never saw the real thing, never got fitted, etc- was very expensive). I actually consider it a good luck dress b/c when I was having an impossible time finding a dress (the first engagement) and I thought to myself, while I was wearing the store sample, maybe it's not the dress, it's the guy that's the problem. Bought the dress, anyway. So no, I think bad luck has nothing to do with the dress. There is such a high divorce rate and it is not b/c all the women wore wear old/previously bought dresses.
Your friend is a real character. That is awesome.
