I think you should just stand yourground. Explain you are old enough to make your own decisions as well as live with the consequences and/or benifits.

ok. just got back. we didnt talk about it TOO much. he just said 'do whatever you want' but he REALLY wants me to wait. he thinks im making a mistake and he says if we are in love now we will be in love in 10 years and can get married then. he doesnt get it. i guess i can understand him. i am still getting married when and where i planned to. i just hope to one day have anorther family celebration here in new york that he will hopefully attend. maybe i should plan one for hen we get back?!?!

Maybe you should wait a couple of months after you guys have been married - this will give your dad some time to adjust to the idea that's it done with. Then when you through your party, he'll be more ustu and ok with.

I'm glad it wasn't too painful of a visit with your dad.

Just make sure you do what feels right for you and your relationship in terms of the wedding.
