No I dont think so. People would probably like to get you stuff that they know you will use.

Not at all! My coworkers did this and while they didn't get as many 'gifts' they got TONS of Home Depot gift certificates at her shower.

go for it - we did sears because FH wanted tools from there- we have a lot of stuff between the two of us already -so it was a way to add stuff since we have a lot of people and two showers

Not at all! If it were my family, they would more likely give me gift cards to Home Depot instead of the actual gifts, but that would be fine too.
