Is it me or them?

Original post by sareejoh

FH just forwarded me an email from one of his friends telling us that we should hire a charter bus to take all his friends from Queens to our wedding because they don't want to stay in the hotel and they don't want to drink and drive. Is it me or is that just crazy? I think they can take the jitney or the LIRR if they don't want to stay and they don't want to drive right??

Don't even listen to people. I learned to turn deaf when it comes to outsiders about MY wedding. It's really eaasy to learn. My son taught me.

Tessa you crack me up.

I have been very sarcastic these last few months. I have to crack myself up!! If I don't, I might hurt someone. But what I said is true.

WTFFFF???? I think thats rude of them to even ask. The appropriate thing for them to do is ask FH if he can recommend a limo company that has buses so they can rent one to take them back and forth since they don't want to stay in a hotel overnight.

Its ridiculous of them to expect you and your FH to provide their transportation.

some people are just

You should have your FH e-mail the following:

' Call ## ### ####. I already spoke to the guy. He said it's going to cost you guys 1500. So whenever you guys are ready to pay up you give him a call. Great idea by the way! Thanks ! You are such a great pal! '

If they were asking for a shuttle to the hotel, that's one thing. they are being ridiculous. if they want to get wasted then they should pony up for the hotel. end of story.

ITA. You paid for alot already and they should be responsible and get their own way home. Send them a list of places that will shuttle or drive them and they have to pay. It is not your fault that they don't want to pay for a room (which I think is dumb). It is definitely not you it is them.

That is just ridiculous! Whenever any of our friends have a wedding that is kinda far away, either everyone gets a hotel room, or as a group we'll get a limo so we don't have to worry about who will be driving.

I think its rude of them to even bring that up. Theyre all adults and should be able to work something out for themselves. They shouldnt rely on you like its your responsibility. If they go out for a friends birthday and drive somewhere, would they expect the friend to get them cabs home?? Gimme a break.

ITA.

I agree with this too

I might get yelled out for this one but, I see your getting married at Atlantica which is in West Hampton Beach. That is a very long drive from Queens. While I think it is inapproriate for friends to ask to provide transportation, some might think since that is like a 2hr drive it should be included.

Did you get a group rate for some hotels in Riverhead? The new holiday inn express is very nice. A lot of hotels provide shuttles for free, maybe you can do this. There are tons of hotels in Riverhead and West Hampton is only 10mins from there. Especially if its a large group, I would look into group rates at hotels.

Reading through it, the bride got a charter from the venue to the hotel. The guests have the option of staying at the hotel, but don't want to. Instead they want the groom to get ANOTHER charter to take them into Queens.

Gotcha I must have missed that. In that case, yea that is pretty rude! You've given them options.

I agree with the fact that it is rude to ask for you to provide it.

But I think they might just be spoiled so many weddings I've been to offered transport for guests like this.

I agree...totallu rude to ask but I have been to so many weddings that provide this so maybe they assumed?

Instead of seeing it as rude, just see it as a friend asking another friend. I don't think they are being rude, they probably thought they would ask

the best thing is to say that you are on a limited budget and cannot afford it. Compromise and say that you can help them look into a charter bus, but each person will have to pay for it themselves - IN ADVANCE.

However you have already done a lot of work on that part of your wedding already- I wouldn't want you to add any more stress. Why did FH fwd this issue to you?
