FH just forwarded me an email from one of his friends telling us that we should hire a charter bus to take all his friends from Queens to our wedding because they don't want to stay in the hotel and they don't want to drink and drive. Is it me or is that just crazy? I think they can take the jitney or the LIRR if they don't want to stay and they don't want to drive right??

I think its rude of them to even bring that up. Theyre all adults and should be able to work something out for themselves. They shouldnt rely on you like its your responsibility. If they go out for a friends birthday and drive somewhere, would they expect the friend to get them cabs home?? Gimme a break.

Wow. That is a huge expensive. I would say you are doing your part but they either have to be responsible or stay in hotel. Or hire there own car service. I would not pay for it. We are paying for enough.

If they were asking for a shuttle to the hotel, that's one thing. they are being ridiculous. if they want to get wasted then they should pony up for the hotel. end of story.

Heck no! You've done your part! They need to be responsible for themselves and taxi-it-up or take the RR. I mean, really now!

That is beyond rude of them to ask for that. If they want to do that, you should orginize a bus to take them home at their own expense.

Re: Is it me or them?
That is INSANE! people have to be responsible for getting themselves to and from the wedding. someone can be DD or they could do the LIRR or a car service. do not let this bother oyu in the least. it is not your responsibility. how many weddings have we all been to where we had to worry about our transportation and/or limited drinking to get there safely?

Re: Is it me or them?
Yeah, that's too much. They can suck it up and pick a designated driver. Or let them hire a charter bus. (I would NOT rely on the Jitney or LIRR, ever. Plus it's still a few miles from your location.). Common sense should tell you that if you are at a Hamptons wedding, you aren't going to schlep back to Queens, so don't even try.

The jitney stops directly in front of the hotel we are staying in and we hired a charter from there to the wedding so they don't even have to worry about that.

Re: Is it me or them?
Your FH should tell them to figure it out or maybe they can all chip in together and charter their own bus...very rude, probably not intentionally...but still rude. they are all adults and should figure it out!

I agree with the fact that it is rude to ask for you to provide it.
But I think they might just be spoiled so many weddings I've been to offered transport for guests like this.

Re: Is it me or them?
Definitely them... NOT YOU! That is a lot to ask. FH's whole family is from Queens and they are driving themselves there and back. If you know you have to drive, don't drink.. it's as simple as that! It's not like they are out of state and NEED to stay in a hotel. Very odd.

Re: Is it me or them?
Instead of seeing it as rude, just see it as a friend asking another friend. I don't think they are being rude, they probably thought they would ask
the best thing is to say that you are on a limited budget and cannot afford it. Compromise and say that you can help them look into a charter bus, but each person will have to pay for it themselves - IN ADVANCE.

Don't even listen to people. I learned to turn deaf when it comes to outsiders about MY wedding. It's really eaasy to learn. My son taught me.
