for married couples to take personal vacations/trips seperate from each other? I was just wondering what you girls thought about this.......
ETA: Thanks for all your responses!! FH and I were discussing this over the weekend and he said that he will go away if he wants to.......I just felt that married couples should vacation together and spend that time together before they have a family and they might not have the time to do those things. I don't know if I could stand the thought of being left home while my FH is away somewhere!

Re: Is it normal.....
Once in a while for a husband or wife to take a short trip to visit friends or something, yes, I think its normal. I wouldnt say its normal to go on a week vacation to an island without your spouse though....i dont see why you'd want to do that

I don't mind if he wants to go golfing or to a game out of state with the guys, but I completely draw the line when it comes to some sort of spring-breakish place with a bunch of drunken fools everywhere....somewhere like that is not a place to go wtihout FH/FW!

FH goes away for the weekend a few times over the summertime, but it's usually to do things I don't want to. He goes on quad riding excursions with his friends and sometimes his dad out of state. I wouldn't ask him to stop doing. I don't know if that's the kind of vacation your talking about though

I say that if it was normal when you were dating, then its normal when you are married...
Just cause you are mrs. doesn't mean that YOU have the ball and chain....
Weekends away are good for the psyche also

Wow then we are abnormal, which doesn't bother me one little bit! FH has taken a bunch of solo vacations. I have no problem with it, other than getting a little JEALOUS!! Sometimes work schedules dont allow us to have a week off at the same time, why should he suffer??? But we've lived together for 5 years so its kind of a mini-vacation for me too when he's away for a week... And he always brings back outstanding presents
With that said, I realize its not for everybody!!

We love to vacation together... but last summer Steve wanted to visit family in Ecudaor so he went for 2 weeks by himself. I was happy that he went without me since I couldn't get out of work

I know several older woman who go away w/ girlfriends yearly. I don't see anything wrong w/ it, but it's definetly a personal decision.

I agree, too.
It doesn't work for us personally, but that doesn't mean it's abnormal.
It's something you BOTH have to be comfortable with, though, so just talk to him about it.
