I handed some out personally. I didn't think it was improper.

As long as they are addressed properly (i.e. To Mr and Mrs. John Smith-- addresses optional since you are delivering in person) and there is a stamped RSVP card inside, I think it would be fine.

i thought maybe it wasn't too proper.. so for my engagement party i mailed them all out.. i had people calling me like uhm.. why would you waste your money mailing them when you could've just given them to us.. and half of the people didn't mail the RSVPs back.. they just handed them to me lol.. (even though they all had stamps on them!)

so i would say.. hand them out to the people you can! it's not improper

I totally agree. I would mail them if I were you.

We are on a very strict budget and cant really afford to have that expense. I think my friends would give me the same response and tell me that we should of just handed them out.

etiquette says they should be mailed but who cares!

In the good old days, I'm talking way back when, wedding invitations were hand delivered. It makes it more personal, I think it's perfectly acceptable, esp with friends who might not really give a damn about etiquette and would rather see you save your $$.

I was going to hand deliver one to my grandparents but then I forgot and sent it out with the rest. My grandma was disappointed and I felt bad so I had an extra one framed for them, that made it all better!

I handed out lots of invitations to my friends and co-workers. And you know what, it worked out great. I figure if you see someone every day there's nothing wrong with handing it to them.

someone actually told my parents they'd be viewed as 'cheap' if they handed theirs out.... as in trying to save on postage....... so rude... we ignored them but made sure to mail theirs...

I'm handing some out too. My closest friends basically told me that they will most likely loose the RSVP card & not mail it back. So I told them I would hand them the invites & the could take the card out, fill it in (they are all coming) & hand it back. They actually really liked that idea. It saves their lazy butts from having to locate a mailbox

Hmm.....I might hand deliver SOME as well.

I handed some out, if they are your friends, they really won't care about proper etiquette!

The personal touch is always preferred and proper etiquette, although obviously not always feasible. Hand deliver the ones you can.

I was never one for following the cliche rules.

And its my wedding shouldnt i be able to call the shots!! Shouldnt we all???

Eff the PROTOCOL I am going to hand deliver the brunt of them.......

To all of you that are doing it via mail or via hand delivery, more power to you, do what YOU think is right!
