Is it ok for vendors to do multiple things at once?

Ive been getting alot of information from vendors and quotes and it seems that florists are also coordinators and people who sell invitations, favors etc are also cooridantors and wedding planners. Djs also offer to coordinate and plan your wedding?/

What the? am I crazy how can you be jack of all trades??? how can you concentrate on what you are supposed to do if you also do this and that etc etc.

I dont know maybe Im too picky but Id like my DJ to play music my florist to take care of my flowers and my wedding planner to help me plan the wedding not shove her favors and invitations down my throat.

Ok hope I wasnt too harsh.

don't worry, it happens to all of us..i think it's just another way for them to make extra $$$ by adding on extra services-when people hear you are getting married they will try to sell you everything!!

The wedding industry is a billion dollar industry...so it would make sense for someone already in a branch of the business to try and capture a bigger market...sometimes they offer discounted services because it's one stop shopping, sometimes not. But being that there's such a large pot out there from brides to be like us, can you blame them?

I came into contact w/a florist that also has invitations, and she offerred them at discount b/c of the B-2-B relationship.

Otherwise, a lot of companies are affiliated w/other aspects in the wedding process. I'd rather just have each vendor do their one and only thing.

I also think we as consumers should be careful as a lot of these places Sub-contract so we have no idea of the ppl that we may get to perform the task at hand.

Wait, have you met vendors that do everything? Because that would be odd. What I meant was that my DJ (who only DJ's) has photographers in his office and videographers and invitation books...so you can go to all these people at the same address (guessing they share low rent) and get most of your stuff done. The same with my limo...he only does limos, but there's an invitation/favor girl at the office, a phot and video team and this means discounts...but for my limo company to be my DOC? Um, no!

For the most part--this *****!! IMO, even photo and video whould be separate. We spoke to many photographers who wanted to insist that we use their video, which was NOT of the same quality as the professional videographers who shoot documentaries and TV commercials all the time. However, we talked to a DOC who does invitations and we were fine with that.

No I havent met anyone yet just go engaged but I guess you get emails from vendors here once yuo register?? well some same I do this and that and that and that and Im like what???

I also asked for coordinator info on the ohter boards and I got a few who do flowers and coordiante or who sell stuff and coordinate.

I also dont like offices that do everything too it just looks too greedy to me. I dont know again I may be too picky.

You're not picky...that's your style, why budge? Most of us picked all of our vendors separately...so I know what you mean. I didn't use my hall's recommended vendors because of the money they charge, you can find lower priced on your own and good quality.

Happy planning!
