especially if you're going toward the non traditional route, think this is a reasonable request?

YEs of course, but they might ask you to pay for it. My florists did one on the spot for me. If you go to Flowers By Emil (Carmine) I think he would do it (probably for free, or just charge cost for the materials).

They're mine too and they did a sample centerpiece for free. But, I must say, they didn't do it before I booked with them. We had already contracted.

I am also using flowers by emil and we didnt even ask for a sample he just made on, and I think everyone should show you a sample before you book

Just a word of caution... a florist we loved offered to make us a sample before booking if we wanted. We were thrilled, but made sure to ask if we would see one again closer to the wedding and she said yes. Actaully she said, 'Of course!' Well, a week later we go back and after seeing the sample, we signed a contract. As we were leaving I casually said 'so how close to the wedding do I get to see my CP sample.' She responded, 'Excuse me?? That WAS your sample. I'm not making you ANOTHER one!!!'

We got out of the contract and went with another florist.

An isolated incident, but just make SURE you get to see another one before the wedding.

Good luck!

Absolutely!! I had both florists (I could only choose between 2) make samples for me. It gave me a sense of how well they listened to what I wanted--very important for a bridezilla like me

Yes!! I had the top 2 florists I couldnt choose between both make a sample cp for me before I booked one. Now that I have booked and its been a year I changed my mind about my centerpieces so my florist is making a SECOND sample for me this weekend!

( btw the 2 florists who did this for me free of charge was flowers by brian and united floral co. in great neck)
