is it ok to hang out w/ someone who has a sinus infection?UPDATE

Sil wants to come over but she has a cold that has turned into a sinus infection and dh just got over the stomach bug. Im 15 weeks preggo. I dont know if it is wise to have her come over 2 nite. what do you think?

Dh told sil that he was concerned that I might get sick and it best that we dont hang out and SHE IS OFFENDED Im sorry but that is ridiculous and Im really mad right now. she thinks that I dont want to hang out with her on nye even though we always do- Im sorry but Im not risking anything right now esp a sinus infection. I have really bad sinuses- last year I had an infection that lasted 5 months I need to be put on steroids 2x almost hospitalized -- its not worth the risk for one night.

How long has she been sick, if it is more than 3-5 days, she should no longer be contagious, just have her keep her distance and take the obvious precautions, wash your hands, don't share glasses, forks, etc. Usually a sinus infection is the tail end of an infectious cold, I would think you'd be ok, just make sure she has not run a fever in the last 48 hrs.

I hate being around sick people. Id always stay away. You can take Sudafed while prego but why take the chance of getting sick and having to take medications?

Sorry your SIL is so insensitive. I don't know why anyone would want to risk getting a pg woman sick.

She is being ridiculous! I haven't seen my best friend or her kids for Christmas yet because they are passing around a cold in her house and doesn't want me anywhere near ANY OF THEM! PERIOD! Very insensitive on her part for not understanding!

that stinks that she is being like that..sorry she is being so selfish. and good for you on making the RIGHT decision for you and your baby.

P.S. She'll get over it.....and if she does not MAYBE one day she will find out and remember what she did to you.
