Is it ok to put gift registry on engagement invitation?
At first we weren't going to have an e-party, but our friends want to make us one. I already registered for a few things at Macys and was thinking of registering at Bed Bath also. Does it look too greedy to put this on the engagement invitation? Not trying to sound rude, but my most of the time my relatives give me gifts that are not my taste and useless.
Thanks.

I have gotten a few engagement gifts and they had the cards in the envelope on where the couple registered. I don't think its rude.

I wouldn't do it. If people ask then you can tell them. But I wouldn't do it. I had my eparty and I registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Macys and didn't say a word.. we ended up getting everything on our registry and money.

I wouldn't put it on there. I had an e party and didn't put any of that although we didn't register yet. I had a lot of people ask but I wouldn't offer the information if they didn't ask me.

i put all of my registries on the liwedding website and put a link to our 'wedding website' on a seperate piece of paper with the invite. then people will look on there and the registries are there and its not asking for a gift!

I thibk it depends on the situation,,,
I dont see any harm in outting a business card from where u registered in the e party invite.. I persoanlly dont thibk thats tacky at all, i thibk it willonly help everyone in what to get you. Id rather get what I like then stand in line to return it..
But some people didnt register like myself for my e party & when people asked what we needed I said just yourself. We got mostly $ anyways..

I've seen it done plenty of times before. Personally I don't see anything wrong w/ it. Especially since you have a certain taste, and you might not have use for it. And really from what was explained to me,and I could be wrong. Engagement parties are where your supposed to get household things, and the wedding is really money. You know like getting back whatyou put in so to say.
And whats the sense of registering if you don't include it in the invites. When you have a baby shower don't you put registry cards in there

I wouldn't do it...because technically, people are not required to bring a gift to an engagement party. It is a personal preference when someone brings a gift to the e-party. Whereas, a bridal shower, it is expected to bring a gift.
good luck!

i completely agree. i MYSELF would never think, if i received an invite w/ registry info in it, that it was rude but A LOT of people do think that. it's really not supposed to be in with or on an e-party invite. only the BS invite usually gets registry cards placed in the envelope. (that's going by etiquette)
most people asked either me or FH where we were registered or asked FMIL or my mom when they called to RSVP. HTH, good luck!!!

If say your parents are hosting the eparty and are the ones sending out the invites then they can add the registry info with the invite. If its you who is sending them out, I wouldnt.

I wouldn't do it. For our engagement parties, we included our Weddingchannel.com website address instead. That way, people could go on their own leisure and find registry information there.

We put it in most of our family invites and other people started calling to ask if we were registered anywhere, so we threw the registery cards into the last batch we sent out.

We did not do it. We just added a link to our wedding website.

Etiquette state that you should not include registry info on your e-party invitation -- that should only go in the shower invite.

Totally agree. People who wish to buy a gift from your registry will ask others where you are registered.

We just had our party and didn't put in the registry info. Peoiple will ask or hopefully give money. It's more for the shower to put in the registry info with the invite IMHO.

We just had our e-party and put our registry info in and people still asked us what we wanted. I don't think it matter either way.

Thank you everyone! We will not put registry information on the invitation. I appreciate your help.

Do it! Lets face it, people are going to buy you gifts, why shouldn't they be things that you want. Regardless of your registry if people want to buy you something else or give you money they will do it in the end.
