Is it ok to send out wedding invites before your shower invites have even gone out?
I was going to mail out my wedding invitations April 19th but my mom told me to wait till May 1st because my shower invites havent gone out yet and I was fine with that. Well, yesterday I was at my parents house and my mom informed me that my shower invites might not be out before May 1st either and I should wait even longer to send out the wedding invites! W T F! Is it ok to send out wedding invites before your shower invites have gone out?

well considering I have no idea when my shower is... I am sending the wedding invites out as soon as I get them! So I think it is ok.

i believe ettiquette says that wedding invites should go out before shower invites anyways... people should know there is a wedding first that they are invited to before going to a shower... lol very true and i agree but i too didnt do it this way and i dont think most do anymore

Shower invites should go out first. Plus, wedding invites should go out about 8 weeks before your wedding. Therefore, you should really wait until May 20th-ish to send them out. That should give your mom plenty of time to send out your shower invites.

Yeah I think that is perfectly fine... People are expecting both invites I don't think it really matters what order they get them in. To be honest for every wedding & shower I was invited to I don't even remember which invite came first!

My mom is sending out my shower invites tomorrow, we are sending out our wedding invites April 17th or so.

Honestly, I'd rather be at ease knowing the wedding invites went out . I think thats more important than the shower. Plus the shower coordinator can always follow up with phone calls, emails etc to find out who's coming.
I just got a shower invite about 2 weeks ago, and a wedding invite for the same person right after.

totally fine. send them out. usually you dont know about the shower so they shouldnt either.
It's 100% fine. I would send them out as planned.

i would wait until may. it seems kind of early, and people may think that your not going to have a shower.

Screw etiquette on this one! Do whatever makes sense for you. My shower was last weekend and I still havent sent out my wedding invites, although I did send STD's.
We plan on sending wedding invites out in the next week or so so we can take advantage of the $.42 postage rate now while we can.

Same here. My girls were actually waiting for me to send out the wedding invites before sending the shower invites out.
