Is it ok to send out wedding invites before your shower invites have even gone out?

I was going to mail out my wedding invitations April 19th but my mom told me to wait till May 1st because my shower invites havent gone out yet and I was fine with that. Well, yesterday I was at my parents house and my mom informed me that my shower invites might not be out before May 1st either and I should wait even longer to send out the wedding invites! W T F! Is it ok to send out wedding invites before your shower invites have gone out?

I have no idea when my shower is going to be. I am sending out my invites 3 months before the wedding. Yes, I know that seems too soon but I may send out a B-list 2 months before and don't want those people to feel like it's too close to the wedding date to reply. RSVP date will be 4 weeks before the wedding.

I actually hope my wedding invitations go out before the shower invitations. If not, oh well. I don't want to know anything about the shower.

I think either way is fine. The showers I've been to and will be going to, I got the invites before the wedding. But I think if I got a wedding invite, then a shower invite, I'd be like cool, I'm 'shower worthy'. I wouldn't stress!
