to get a photography and video package together for $2,500?? (This will not include any albums and only one dvd). I have 2 appointments this week (Duet and Mark Kauffman) and I just want to have an idea on what I'm getting myself into financially.

You may be able to swing it with duet...but you'd probably only get one photographer. Even so, thats a REALLY tight budget.

I'm using Mark Kauffman... he was possibly the nicest person I have ever spoken to... and MK for Photog and Video is 2700...
I'm sure he will work with you to figure out that 200 difference if you really are set on 2500...
ETA: I have 2 photogs for 10 hours.... 1000 Images online and CD,

hmmm maybe but i really think it would be tough....maybe try looking on craigslist bc there are tons of photographers who want to get there name out there.

Thanks for all of your help, advice and suggestions everyone! FH and I talked about it last night and decided to up the budget a little bit and make a few more appointments with others.
So, we're meeting with Duet tonight at 7:00 (yay!) and I've got my list of printed questions ready to go! lol

With Duet you'll only get photography for $2500, if you want video it will be $4500.

Yes, if you use an independent or smaller photog and a separate videographer and NEGOTIATE

Try 12th Night. They have an a la carte menu so you just have to book the actual photographer, and get your photos on a disc as jpegs, so you're not overpaying the photography company for album, photo prints, etc.

try nicks photography in lake ronkonkoma!!! dont know if he does videos but you WILL NOT get a better deal. his package includes an engagement shoot and unlimited time and shots throughout entire wedding day. hes really funny and nice and does wonderful work. cant give a better reccomendation

Nick G. is a really nice guy. www.nickgphoto.com. He comes in around $1500 with straight shooting...but is very nice and very approachable.
Someone on here once recommended Skid Mark Productions for inexpensive video. Don't know about them though I heard under $1k
