Is it possible to hold on to the joy of this amazing occasion and not get mired in arguments over details? How can you know if you are right or wrong and if you should change things you have worked hard to arrange because people aren't happy with your arrangements? What do you do if dad of the bride is no help? ...And confuses you more? Just having a rough day. Everyone Is unhappy and I am so confused. What do you think? How do you hold on to the positiveness amidst angst? Also if the wedding is far from home ( like 70-90 minutes away) are people getting ready at home then traveling to site all made up etc? Or are people getting ready closer to site? I am worried about traffic in summer traveling out east..and planned to get ready nearer church. But it is causing huge problems. Getting ready closer to site means we can have photography coverage of getting ready... if we get ready at home it makes the photographers day too long. Help welcome. Feeling like I am under water.

Re: Is it possible.
I just saw this, and since no one replied Im going to crash, but first of all, breathe!
This whole process is daunting, but you just have to do whats best for YOU and your daughter/son, don't worry about other peoples opinions. I know its hard to do, but this is not their day. People just really like to complain given the chance. The fact that you are making arrangements for them at all is a courteous gesture, so if they don't like it, TOO BAD!
As for your location dilemma, I would definitely get ready out where the location is. My sister got married about an hour away from our home, and we all got ready at the venue, my parents got ready at the hotel. If you have a hotel out there, you can get ready there and if you don't you might want to consider getting one for that reason. You are right, traffic going out east can be terrible in the summer, I wouldn't want to risk it. Where is your church located? Maybe you can choose a hotel somewhere in between to get ready in?

Re: Is it possible.
First of all take a deep breath as it will all be okay. My DIL was from out of state and there were a lot of people who were too. What they did was block a number of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn near the venue and we all stayed there the night before including myself. The photographer came there and took pictures in the brides room as well as in the lobby and they came out beautiful. Tlhen they followed to church and Russo's. You may want to do the same so that people can arrive the night before and be relaxed for the big day.
Good luck!

I think it is possible but it takes a great deal of patience and the ability to step back and put things into perspective. The fact that you can recognize that the disagreements arising may be a direct result of the upcoming wedding puts you ahead of the game. In the end what matters is you and your husband.
