is it possible to find a DJ for 3 hours....

I was prepared to burn CDs, however I really would love to hear our song, when we are ready to dance, a cake song, etc. Can't do that with CDs.

The expense, we just can't do.

it's a small group of 26 people, so to have a DJ with the lights and handouts and dancable music, is a little of a waste, since we will be eating through most of it.

What would you do???

What is it for??? My FH's friend is a DJ and I might be able to help you out...

There's no need to do that, bring your lap and a good set of speakers... then queu your music selection on Winamp so that you got constant music going on....

That's all you need! i would do that for my wedding but we need to have someone there to pause music, and play at the right time, etc. so we hire a DJ.

If you need one on a weeknite, i think you can get a vendor here. FM me if you want my vendor info and I'm sure they can accomodate you for under 400...

this is for our wedding...but the reception is only 4 hours total (1 hour CH, 3 hours dinner) and it's only 26 guests, maximum.

We are so not the norm of most of your weddings (long story) but we are on a tight budget, given I am on partial loans and work PT in the fall and my fiance has been on full loans for the past 2 years.

It's so frustrating to try to make this nice on a tight budget.

We had a DJ for our engagement party that was $200 for 3 hours. He was the one that the restaurant/bar always uses.

It may sound weird, but I would go around to some local bars and restaurants and ask them forst before going to a professional DJ company.

really?

Yup...it was a tavern in the city, but I bet you can find a bunch of bars, etc. near your RH that have recommended DJs.

I think he also was cheaper cause he didnt have full equipment, just speakers and a laptop. He really didnt do much work unless people had requests. And it was a lot easier for him to scan his mp3 list versus looking through a bunch of CD's/records.

I will talk to my friend and see if he can do it for you. He used to DJ in a bar, but I know he still has equipment.

try an ipod with the speakers....I've seen it done, not bad at all.

or try craig's list and just post your budget and how long you need them...
you'll be surprised how many answers you might get...
