Is it possible to have 11am church- 12pm reception?!?

Is it possible to have 11am church- 12pm reception?!?

Am I crazy in trying to make this happen?

The earliest wedding at my church on a Saturday is 11am (no communion so it's shorter). The time available for cocktail hour at CLM is 12pm. Am I crazy to try to make this work? I am very much against taking pics before the church- I would HATE to see him before it. I want that moment down the aisle more than anything.

If we cut the receiving line and went straight there, would it work?

Thank you all!!!

I really don't think it'll work.

Since you don't want the pics before the wedding ( I don't either), this would probably cause you a lot of stress.

Maybe others can give you ideas of how it would work, but I just don't see how.

Personally, I am more than fine without a church wedding. I'm really doing it for Mom- it's so important to her we get married by a priest and she thinks the whole church wedding is so special and so important - walking down the aisle and what not. personally, it's not that big a deal to me. If we can get married outside at CLM- wonderful!!

Maybe just tell her you dont want to feel rushed and everything....use it to your benefit then if you rather get marred at CLM

I thinki it would be way to rushed. You would be thinking more about time than the ceremony. Also it would be a big rush for your guests as well. I wouldn't do that. CLM can't give u a 1 oclock ch?

Heck, no! I'd never wanna miss my cocktail hour ESPECIALLY at CLM- BOAT RIDE!

Ugh maybe I have to talk the FH out of this day wedding thing...unless we go with someplace else...still haven't called Fox Hollow yet. Was really set on CLM...ugh!!

CLM only had the 12pm slot- no 1:30

Pictures take at Least an hour so there is no way to do what you are planning if you plan on attending the ch.

We did not see each other prior to me walking down the aisle.

The photographer took some pics of DH and his family prior to the wedding, some of me getting ready.

We almost missed the whole CH.

So.. no, you won't have enough time with 1 hour. Count at least 2 hours.

Why don't you just get married at CLM?
Aren't there some priests who will perform ceremonies outside of the church?

You should get married at your hall. It will be just as beautiful and speacial. Maybe your guests will get an extra long cocktail hour while you and your Hubby are taking pics

I don't think it will work. Also, it depends on the distance from the church to the reception site. You need more time. That's cutting it waaayyyy to close. Do you have any other options?

like the other girls said, i don't really see that working if you don't want to take pics before the ceremony and don't want to miss CH....
i would see about getting married at your hall, then maybe you would just miss part of your CH for pics.... or maybe reconsider seeing each other before- there was a thread on here of ' first time seeing each other' pics that almost made me wish we had done it that way. when the photographer sets it up and isn't worried about interrupting the ceremony, he can get better shots of your expressions when you see each other for the first time. do a search for the thread, it seriously might make you rethink it...
DH is in a wedding tomorrow that is doing it this way- 11:30 AM ceremony, 12 CH- but they are taking pics before the ceremony, and getting married right at the hall...

thats cutting it really close... remember it is your big day, so you dont want to be rushing. I dont think it is a good idea.

im doing a 10am church and 12pm reception...well 12 is the cocktail hr...and i think thats cutting it close...so we're gonna do the pictures at the reception place instead of going somewhere...maybe try that if anything..,

that's cutting it very short. I am having a 10:45 AM Mass and a 1:00 PM cocktail hour and I am very worried about having enough time... i would like to make part of my cocktail hour. also, factor in the distance between church and hall and full mass vs. ceremony.

I agree with most of the gils on here. I think that you would be cutting it too close and the last thing you want on your wedding day is to be really stressed and rushed around..
