I saw in a previous post someone said it is NEVER ok to send registry info. on the invitiation. I know its not the BEST thing to do, but is it really that wrong? Here is my situation:
I dont plan on having a shower because most of my family members are all over new york and will prob. not show up, so I cant send the registry info with the shower inviation. Also, al ot of my family members are not close to eachother so letting them know my registry info. by word of mouth is difficult to. So...the only thing left is the invitation. Keep in mind that I plan on slipping in a seperate card for the registry, the info. will not be on the actual invitation...what do you guys think? Please be honest... My cousin got married this JUne, and this is what she did...

I see nothing wrong with putting the card inside. I think it gets 'tricky' when you put it 'on' the invitation.

As long as it is on a separate card-there is no problem.

I have to agree with that! Although in many etiquette books it says not to do that, but who follows all the rules nowadays anyway??

I think you're okay with including the registry information on a separate card due to your situation with not having a shower....
HOWEVER... jsut playing devil's advocate here.... Does including your registry info. in your invite... I am wondering if that sends the message that you PREFER registry items as gifts as opposed to cash??? people who might've give n cash may just get something from the registery if they see that enclosed with the invite? that's fine... but i am assuming you prefer cash as a wedding gift??

Re: Is it really that wrong????
Etiquette says no. But not everything is so black and white. Considering your situation....it is ok.
I am in a very similar situation....no shower, no engagement party, and many people from all over the country who I don't speak to or am close enough to verbally tell them.
I sent them out a letter last week, giving them hotel options, and a reminder to book their hotel, along with fun things to do in the area. I also included my registry information on that. I also told them to go to www.weddingchannel.com for more information......all my regsitries are listed there for them to find.

Hmmm....very good point. And I do like cash lol...Im sure some people will still give cash. But even if EVERYONE that comes to my wedding buys me something off my registry I wouldnt mind either.
p.s. Thank you for all the advice, makes me feel sooo much better

I think its find to include it as long as it isnt on the invitation. Are you sending out STDs? I would include it with that if you are worried about it

AGREE 100%. As I mentioned, I don't think it's wrong to put the registry cards in the invitation. Just be sure it's not printed on the actual invite......lol.
It's a personal thing I think. Some people find it offensive to do it and some don't. I think it really depends on the way it is presented......... so don't worry about it......we won't talk about you behind your back!!!!!

Post it on your LIW web site and send it out to everyone you know and let it circulate like that or get a separate registry info card and put it all in the same envelope with the invitation and response card.

Re: Is it really that wrong????
Honestly, i dont think its right to do.
Send out a newsletter stating hotel accomm, where you registered, facts about you 2, etc...
But i dont think its right to EVER state where registered within the contents of an invitation envelope. 'its like saying, come to a party, and here is where you need to buy a gift'.
Only time its acceptable is a shower invite and thats bc the party is about bringing gifts.
Thats my honest opinion.

Understandable. But what do you mean by a newsletter??? And the thing is that I am not going to have a shower, so the only way to let people know where Im registered is to send it with the invite.
