For me it was. I have done event planning in the past and I have to say, I planned everything so meticulously. BUT no matter how much planning I did, I still had a million things pop up unexpectedly and go wrong. MY DOC really did a lot of work that would have been on my shoulders the day of that would have made me so upset, plus I felt my wedding day should be my first day off from wedding planning in almost 2 years!
I have not had my wedding yet. But I definitely think hiring one is well worth it. Mine is great. Everytime I have a question I just e-mail her and she has an answer for me quickly. Plus it it such a relief to know that she will be there that day to take care of any problems that arise and I can be worry free. At my engagement party people kept coming to me with problem.... and by the end of the night I was so oberwhelmed that I was in the bathroom crying....
I don't think it's necessary, but if it's in your budget, I say go for it. I didn't hire one yet, but I already know who I'm using... That's my next book
if I had an endless pocket of cash, then yeah, I'd go for a Coordinator. But since I don't, and there's so many things more important to use that money on, I definitely don't think it's worth it. Hiring a coordinator is just another way of paying for convenience. Nothing wrong with that really, it you can afford it. You'll just need to look at your budget and see if it's really THAT necessary.

For us, it wasn't. We did have some unexpected things popu up (who doesn't) but we were able to handle them between me, DH, and the wedding party.
Also, how much do you TIP you DOC????
