Is it rude for someone to ask

Original post by FutureMrsMacci

How big your e-ring is???

I mean its one thing if you know the person really well then I really dont care but last night I felt really uncomfortable.

Fh and I went out with another couple and I have only met the girl twice and she kept staring at my ring (we were standing on line for a show for about an hour) and then she was like how big is that thing?? I dont know... I love my ring so much but I get embarrassed because I feel that people judge me and fh when I tell them, but not in a good way.

For me I think it depends on how the question was asked. I think it's way worse to ask how much it cost.

It really should not matter on the size of the diamond. I see a lost of people stare at my ring. It is funny to watch their eyes follow my hand just to catch a glimsp. I am not even sure on the exact size of my diamond and no one aske me YET. size should not matter.

Wow... SO RUDE!

I don't mind if one of my good friends ask but if someone I barely knew asked I would have been like Ummm what?

personally, it doesn't bother me... I'm proud to show it off!

I don't like the 'how much did it cost' question though. Although I haven't gotten that yet :)

I think they ask because it is a unique shape so Power to you for having something that gets peoples attention!!

Re: Is it rude for someone to ask

i hear women ask that all the time when a girl walks in w/ a new e-ring. they don't seem to care much about the actual wedding, just 'Let me see the ring! How big is it???'

idk if it's 'rude' technically, but i def don't like what it reflects about the person's values.

I had that as well. I mean, I guess it's flattering but at the same time, VERY tacky. I was told by Mommy never to ask such a question!
