We're blocking rooms at a hotel for the bridal party and OOT guests. Is it rude to only provide transportation for us and the bridal party? I know the OOT guests will be renting cars. The RH is only 4 miles from the hotel. I'm also keeping the bar open later at the hotel so that those wanting to hang out and drink can do so and stay at the hotel.

IMO absoletely not! Providing transportation for guests is a nice thing to do but it is a luxury not a neccessity. People have gotten themselves to and from places before and they can do so at your wedding as well.

I am only providing a shuttle if I have many people staying at the hotel - if only a few rooms are used I am not
If you are having a lot of people stay at the hotel I think you should provide a shuttle

I agree. And you are providing other things for them anyway.

I would provide one to be honest. Since they are OOT they might not know their way around and i am really against drunk driving so a shuttle will allow your guests to have a good time and get back safely.

It's not required. I have stayed at hotels for weddings and there was no shuttle. The only reason we are providing a shuttle for guests because it is part of the deal our RH has with the hotel.

I don't think it is rude. For us, we rather pay the money and know our guests got back to the hotel safe after enjoying themselves. We also have a ton of family staying at the hotel

I'm not providing a shuttle. I figure most of the out of towners are driving from out of state, so they'll already have a car. Otherwise, they can car pool, rent, or take a taxi. They'll need a car the night before to get to the rehearsal dinner anyway.

I am only providing a shuttle for people staying at the hotel. And that's only from hotel to/from RH. They still need to find their own way to/from the church.

My fh is irish. Don't think I need to say anymore lol. the family will be drinking basically all day. I did it to avoid drunk driving. Sometimes people say they are okay but really aren't. Guests not staying at the hotel and feel can't drive home right away can take the shuttle back to the hotel and hang out till they feel ready to leave. The price is 200 which is fairly cheap so we went for it

it is def. NOT RUDE. I have only been to a few wedding where a shuttle was provided. It is an added bonus and I say only do it if its in your budget.
I had one and many guests did not even use it.

Re: Is it rude to not provide a shuttle?
As more than half of our guests are from out of town, we are providing a shuttle from the hotel to the reception and back. We were thunderstruck by how expensive buses can be, until we looked into chartering a bus from the local school bus company. For less than $500 we can provide safe rides for everyone from out of town, and for all of the drunkies who will be at our wedding. We thought of it as money well spent.

I dont think you need to, if they all have rental cars they can drive or carpool to the RH

I am providing the same thing!
Also, its not rude.... it gets expensive.... I was lucky that my hotel provided the free shuttle to and from my RH.

I think it is fine but I would mention it before hand in case someone 'assumes' you will be providing it.

Not at all... Ive been to plenty of wedding where transportation wasnt offered...
Its an added bonus if you offer it, but it is by no means rude not to!

Thats my reasoning... i consider it money well spent to keep people from drinking and driving..

I don't think it's rude BUT I would do it to prevent people from drinking and driving. I know that people are adults and should know that, but realistically I would feel better. It's up to you though. It is an added expense but I think it's worth the money to put me at ease.
