Personally...I think it is.

However, I have seen this done numerous times. (All weddings were outside of NY.)

It's your wedding. If you want to do it -- DO IT!

I personally don't have an opinion about this.

I think it is acceptable.

I will be making menus for the dinner, but if your RH needs to know before hand... go ahead and do it. I have seen so many invites like that. NO BIG DEAL.

I don't know if it's tacky. Imo, if i were the guest and i got the invite and saw i had to choose between those 3 i wouldn't know what to do. I'd wanna see each entree and exactly what came with it and how it was prepared.

lol i'm a food snob lol. I love food too much to make such an important decision w/o more info.

But it's up to you. I def don't think it's tacky though.

I've seen it before, but I'm not going to do it.

Unless you are having place cards at the table the waiters are going to have to ask your guests what they are eating anyway. otherwise all they will know is 3 chickens and 5 beef and 2 fish table 11

I dont think its tacky at all---actually its they way they do it most places.
If you go to a wedding outside of the NYC area (including LI, some parts of jersey) This is how invites are sent. Weddings are so different here! Most caterers outside of NY require this so they dont over order any one item. It cost less--thats why weddings are so much cheaper elsewhere.

unless your RH is requiring you to give them an approximate headcount on the meals, then I woudn't do it.

Personally I wouldn't do it. But-
I did go to a wedding at Tavern on the Green a few years back where they did.

i think it depends the catering hall...if you love the hall and thats how they do it, then fine.

i just got an invite that had opptions...mainly cuz the place makes everything that day and they need to know exactly what ingredients to have on hand (wedding on a farm out of state)

I've seen invitations like this; it's not tacky but I think you should have the waiter ask at the reception. People may change their minds and you don't want to deal with that.

I completely agree!

I currently live in Rochester, NY (close to Canada) and I am always asked my meal choice before the wedding. Also, weddings outside of NYC / LI are so different that my FH's family was shocked that I was having an e-party. They think I am crazy for not having the wedding in OUR OWN backyard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ITA...but this is how it is done in weddings OOS...to each their own...but I know I'd hem and haw and then want to change my mind the day of

I would only do that if the hall requires it otherwise....why would you worry about keeping track of that.

I've seen it done, I've been to weddings even here in NY that do it. But I wouldn't. How do I know what I want to eat 2 months in advance! I don't even know what I want for dinner tonight!!!!

Re: IS IT TACKY

Personally, I dont like it...I think its kind of presumptuous to think people know what they will want to eat that night a month or two in advance. Also, if you are basing what food is purchased for the night on response cards, you are always going to have people who didnt reply show up and the ones who did reply might not show...I just dont like it...
If your hall is requiring you to do this, then thats fine it has to be done. But if there is an option about it, esp being that LI are different from other places, dont do it
(Hope this didnt sound harsh, I can be a bit of a food snob and this really irks me lol)
