Is it Tacky....

to not have a rehearsal dinner?

My RH says that we go over the ceremony 1/2 hour before it starts. My priest has no intentions to come the evening before. So all in all there is no need for a rehearsal dinner.

It doesnt bother me that much....Im actually fine with it but then I think, when will I give my gifts out? Sooooo....I was thinkingo of having our whole BP and Parents only over our 'small' apt the night before. This way they will all get their gifts, ya know? Ill order food (not that much but enough) from a restaurant and we'll all just hang for a couple of hours. The day will be so busy the next day, so i figure only a couple of hours.

What do you ladies think? This tacky?

ive been to rd's where there was no actual rehearsal... i think its really up to you... i think most people do it to give the BP gifts out!

Not at all!!

I am not having a rehearsal dinner but I am also not getting married in a church and have a very small BP (just my sister as MOH and her bf is our BM).

But I think having them over one night and ordering food is a great idea. It saves you money and is a lot more intimate then a dinner at a restaurant.

I'm having a rehearsal dinner and we are not having the church rehearsal because my church does not do them.

I had the same debate (to have or not to have) and we decided that we would have a dinner in a restaurant, because (1). our apartment is way too small to accomodate our bridal party, parents and readers and (2). we thought it was an addidional way to say thank you to all.

By any means is it tacky not to have one, its all up to you and your FH. These are one of the joys of having your wedding, do things as you please!

I think your idea is very nice and intimate, so that people can get to know eachother, if they dont already!

we got married at our RH so there was no need for a rehearsal. instead we had a dinner at my BIL's house for close family and the BP. they ordered a few catered dishes and that was it. it was perfect for us. i think your idea is the way to go.

I do not think it is tacky at all! I think it sounds very nice and intimate.

No, it doesn't sound tacky. We're having a rehearsal dinner, just because his family and the two of us want one. Yours sounds like it would be less headache and nice and intimate.

It's not tacky. Just be careful. We thought we would only have our bridal party & parents and before we knew it there were like 40 people there!

As long as you do something nice for your bridal party like you were explaining then there is nothing wrong with that.
I do think that your bridal party deserves something though as a 'thank you.'

I don't think it's tacky at all, I've been bridal parties where they have done that and it was fun. Much better than spending another $2k on a dinner like us, ugh!

We didn't have a RD since we were married at the RH. After the wedding I took my BMs out to dinner to say thank you and DH will take his guys out soon.
