...to put 'adult reception' on my invites. I am having 6 kids in my BP (our nieces and nephews) and don't want any others. I have been to a few weddings where FH's family has brought their kids (specifically OOT guests) but if I give them enough notice, they should be able to make arrangements for their kids. I just don't want to be put in a situation where people ask to bring their kids. Sorry if I sound like a horrible human being.

Re: Is it tacky....
i don't think it's tacky but it may be hard for people from ireland to get away without their children. maybe you could have like a babysitter or something at the hotel so that there is somewhere for them to leave their kids during the reception? i only say that bc they're from ireland and if the rest of their family is invited too then they may not have anyone to watch their kids

Re: Is it tacky....
I definitely don't think it's tacky at all, but do you think you could do it just by putting Mr. and Mrs. ______ on the invitation and no 'and family'? Or are they the kind of people who wouldn't care and would bring their kids anyway?

Re: Is it tacky....
we addressed our invites accordingly.
since we are invited my brother & SIL with their kids the outside envelope reads: The Ge... Family, same with my moms cousin. & their inside envelope lists each persons name.
for those we are inviting without their children the outside envelope reads: Mr. & Mrs. ......... & their inside envelope has just their names.
for our family & friends this will suffice.
since it sounds like the people you are referring to, will do as they please, you may want to include 'Adult Only Reception' on your reception card or response card. IMO not directly on the invite itself.

Re: Is it tacky....
I would assume if I put Mr. & Mrs. ____ that people would know it's not for kids too. But I agree if they come from OOT they might find it a challenge to leave their kids. But then if I allow OOT kids, other people might get offended that they cant bring their kids. I can't afford the babysitting idea, nor do I want that responsibility on me. So tough!!

Re: Is it tacky....
I agree with some other people, it should be understood that its no children if there is no 'And family' on the invite. If people send reply cards ' + kids' then you will need to explain that it will be an adult only reception. I do think that you shouldn't have to write it on invite...

Re: Is it tacky....
Honestly, I shouldn't have to write Adult Reception..., but due to the comments already forthcoming, I'm trying to head off more. Some people think that even if they're family, they can bring their kids - not the case. And, since I don't have a reception card, its smack dab on the invite. You'd really have to be an idiot to call me at that point or send back a RSVP including kids.

Re: Is it tacky....
You can definitely do that. Esp if you know that otherwise children will attend.
