Is it tacky....

Re: Is it tacky....

I am having an adult only reception, but I am not writing it on the invitation (must be over the age of 18 unless in the Bridal Party). Instead, I am addressing the inner envelope with the names of each family member invited. For example - the other envelope will read:
The Smith Family
1 New York Ave
Anytown NY 12345

while the inner envelope will be addressed to:
Mr and Mrs Smith
John Smith
Jennifer Smith

This is if John and Jennifer were 'of age' and if there are any children younger than 18 they won't be put on the envelope.

Additionally, I am also relying on word of mouth that there are no children.

In your case, I do not think its tacky as you have a lot of OOT guests with children

i don't think it's tacky but it may be hard for people from ireland to get away without their children. maybe you could have like a babysitter or something at the hotel so that there is somewhere for them to leave their kids during the reception? i only say that bc they're from ireland and if the rest of their family is invited too then they may not have anyone to watch their kids

I totally agree

I did it - but we invited the children of our cousins - that was the extent of it - those invitations read and family - everyone else was mr and mrs.

I think this is probably the best solution.
