no i think its a good idea. I think they are too confusing if it not spelled for the guests. I have been confused before. and alwasy write the number on ther

I put X number of seats have been reserved in your honor - i can't even tell you how many of my guests told me what a good idea it was

eta: so obviously i don't think 'clarifying' is tacky!

Not tacky at all! Then again that wouldnt stop my relatives...they would just check the two and put (& 5)

i'm going to put ____ of _____ will attend and i'm going to fill in the second space with how many people are invited.

so if it's 2 invited...
0 of 2 will attend
1 of 2 will attend
2 of 2 will attend

that way if they say...
3 of 2 will attend i'll have someone call them and tell them to get out their calculator

this is exactly how i worded it. but i got a response that said 7 of 2 will attend!! can u believe the nerve?
AND i couldnt say anything cause it was a 'dear friend' of fh's father

but, overall it worked out very well. much less confusing, that way u know exactly who is coming.

I think this is a great way to state it. This is the most polite way IMO and it still gets your point across.
