I have 1 1/2 yrs left before the wedding...should I hold off on flowers, or just get it all done now? So far, I've been engaged for a little over 3 mos and have: church, hall,dj,photog, limos, and my dress.....
should i start looking for flowers now? or hold off? I dont want all the good ones to get booked before I can look at them

You'll probably get a lot of different opinions on this, but I would hold off. I changed my mind on what I wanted SO many times since I started planning. Not even just the small details, I'm talking whole color schemes, and looks, and very different flowers. I booked my florist with a little less than six months until the wedding.

I don't see why not. Some people like to go early and unlike me, I like to go later
i'm just too lazy to go

Wow, you've been quite a little busy bee! You have gotten so much done in such a short time! I think you could get flowers whenever you want. My only advice it be careful.....us brides are always changing our minds!

everyone's opinion is different on this, of course.. but it certainly cannot hurt to start looking around at florists now .. you have the time to be choosy, so why not? And this way you can price things out, compare, etc.
Don't go by me.. I JUST booked my florist last night and I'm getting married in July (I'm a last-minute type person anyhow .. I don't think anyone should follow my example!)
Luckily our florist is AMAZING so I really lucked out

Re: Is it too early to start looking for flowers???
I'm getting married in 6/05 and I talked with Lorraign from Lorraign's flowers at a showcase. I wanted to meet with her right away but she told me to wait until this June (04) so I have a better idea of what kind of flowers she'll have that time of year. June 1, I will be on the phone with her! I want to get it all done now! LOL

Re: Is it too early to start looking for flowers???
I booked Burton's far in advance and my contract says any flowers i want, so i didn't have to tell him what i exactly wanted. So if you can find a florist that will do that i say go for it and book it now, its one less thing you have to worry about.

lf you know what you want I dont think its too early, one place told us 16 months before and one place told us 6 months before, so I think if you know what you want thats all that matters....

I would call the florist you want to use and have them hold your wedding date. Then you don't need to decide on your flowers until like 3-4 months before the wedding
That's what I did!

Re: Is it too early to start looking for flowers???
I'll probably start looking around. I can't picture myself sitting here wondering about flowers for the next 12 mos! I definitely won't be able to hold off that long! I am too eager to get everything finsihed! Thanks for the input! Good idea about holding the date and THEN choosing the flowers....
you guys are the best!

I say go ahead. I had 1 1/2 years before the wedding, so I did 1 thing every month, some took 2 or 3. I say spread it out, so you can enjoy the process and not hate it. I feel very relaxed about it and i have 8 months left.

Re: Is it too early to start looking for flowers???
My wedding is after yours and we already did the flowers. We used Flowers By Burton and heard they book up quickly... they also require only a $50 deposit so if we decided to go with someone else we won't lose much money anyway... Good luck!
Re: Is it too early to start looking for flowers???
Well do you have all your dresses? I am going to wait to see what my dress looks like as well as the BM dresses and colors. I have no idea about my dresses at all! So I am going to hold off on the flowers until then.

Well, you need your BM dresses first. Make sure you bring a swatch. My sister's florist did an amazing job. The colors they picked really popped with the color of the dress. it was amazing. You can book it as soon as you get the BM dresses. But you don't have to look this early.

JMO here but I would wait the reason is because you are getting married in Sept and some florist may not have the flowers that you are looking for in the colors you are looking for. I would start looking at the end of july to get a feel for the flowers that will be around during the time of your wedding.

Well, you can book a florist, especially it you are going to go to a popular one.
But I think you have time to pick the actual flowers out, in the mean time get ideas, and see what's available in your season.
